Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Supplier Management Team (SMT) Engineer) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future.  This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.  Frequent travel and on-site support at supplier location is expected approximately 50% of time. Partnered with product delivery counterparts, the Senior Principal Aeronautical Engineer (SMT Engineer) will be responsible for technical oversight of major supplier segments of the air vehicle. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

Provide leadership and management of a cross functional and cross-discipline teamProvide unambiguous direction and communication to ensure that leads and individual team members understand their roles and responsibilities and that expectations are clearly setEnsure successful completion of design reviews leading to PDP drawing release and program milestonesUtilize the support of an interface with other disciplines both within and outside of RT&E and will collaborate with IPT Leads, Integration Leads, Chief Engineers, and other IPT Managers in a team-oriented environment to achieve program goals.Ensure that technical, cost, and schedule performance measures are being met with particular focus on air vehicle quality, weight management, producibility, and affordabilityEnsure that detail design approaches comply with sector processes, procedures, and best design/architecture approachesMeet first time engineering quality and affordability objectivesPlan staffing requirements and interfaces with Vehicle Engineering and other functional homerooms to ensure staffing needs are metProvide engineering production support to air vehicle manufacturing (MRB and RCI dispositions, EO’s, etc.)Support preparation of cost inputs for all new proposals and ECPs within the SMT and relating to any other IPT.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience.Demonstrated experience in air vehicle design or analysisYour ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Supplier Management experienceExperience leading a team of engineers while building diverse/inclusive teams with engaged team membersDemonstrated experience working as part of a cross-functional teamDemonstrated technical trouble-shooting skills

Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
