Job Summary
Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures solutions.Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Infrastructure, Network, Applications, Cloud and End-User Products:
Work closely with network team to manage and support both data and transport devices
Provide the installation, deployment and ongoing support of Network Enterprise wide monitoring and troubleshooting solutions with emphasis in Solarwinds and Telenium products
Align network tools to business user experience to drive stability and proactive issue resolution
Develop and maintain network monitoring dashboards, custom views, and alerts for internal technology and telecommunication users
Create and deploy automation from proactive monitoring through issue identification & self healing to prevent customer impact
Apply network monitoring protocols like SNMP, FarScan, TL1, Syslog to enable network communications
Bring a curious, innovative mindset to approach including critical thinking to integrate Solarwinds and Telenium products to other AEP tools and processes
Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities. Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.
Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.
May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
Minimum Requirements:
NOTE: This position will be filled at the experience and salary grade level commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate as compared to the minimum requirements stated below. The selected candidate for this position will work remotely and, though location is flexible, will require vetting and final approval prior to offer and/or start.
Infrastructure Engineer Sr (SG7):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Infrastructure Engineer Prin (SG 8):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Preferred Requirements:
Experience/Knowledge:
2+ years experience in configuring, tuning, deploying and maintaining monitoring products for user base
2+ years experience in programming & scripting languages like Python, Powershell, Perl & mySQL OR 2+ years experience in network monitoring/management
1-2+ years in building and deploying APIs

Infrastructure Engineer Senior (SG7): $83,413-$104,268
Infrastructure Engineer Principal (SG8): $94,225- $122,491

$83,413.00-104,267.50 USDCandidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities. The following locations are NOT currently approved for this position: AK, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, ME, MS, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WY, US Territories or international work locations.
