Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Principal – Tailings Technology as part of its Mining, Minerals and Metals division. The ongoing success of Stantec’s tailings management practice is highly dependent on the quality and performance of our leaders who form an important bridge between the business leadership and the project execution teams within the Mining Business Line. With decades of experience and a portfolio of iconic projects completed and underway, we’re achieving remarkable results with our work at mine sites. We are looking for an energetic and systematic person to partner with Mining’s business leaders and technical teams to extend our position in advancing new technologies, such as dewatered tailings, worldwide. Your Key Responsibilities The Senior Principal develops and guides project teams across the world to deliver world-class solutions to clients large and small. The Senior Principal will support business leaders through the development of HSSE practices, discipline-specific professional and technical standards, quality assurance, and research and development. The Senior Principal will team with the other Mining leaders to develop, communicate, and implement the strategic plan. This role will strengthen our capabilities, affect our position in the market, and support the long-term interests of the company. The Senior Principal attracts talent and technical experts for the business line and within the Energy & Resources Business Operating Unit to further enhance our position as innovative solution providers with a focus on our client’s needs. The Senior Principal is expected to develop business with legacy and new clients and support the worldwide project teams in the delivery of technical solutions and promote strength through the Discipline Leader Network. As a Senior Principal, the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Local, Regional and Global Business Leaders the group. The Senior Principal is responsible for the development of new opportunities for the team, quality and quantity of technical services, and project performance. More specifically: Work with Business and Technical Leaders to: + Engage our existing technical teams to support the development and delivery of tailings and geotechnical projects, with a focus on dewatered tailings worldwide + Identify and resolve technical gaps, either based on individuals, structure, processes, or systems. + Further develop and promote our technical expertise both with respect to people and solutions + Enhance our execution of the Project Management Framework and integrate our technical leaders into project execution teams + Maximize our Quality Program to provide accurate feedback and develop action plans to utilize the positive results across the business line and take advantages of the opportunities for improvement + Work with the Sector Leaders to develop marketing strategies that focus on our technical expertise + Identify and promote our centers for excellence + Demonstrate our innovative approach and solutions + Highlight our effective systems which advance our clients’ projects and needs + Attract/grow and retain high quality staff + Build a strong technical quality culture and promote collaboration and teamwork + Coach, mentor, and develop future leaders + Be the key champion to promote the discipline across Stantec’s business centers and outside the organization through strong industry and academic engagement + Develop and maintain strong communication channels, within and between the various business centers, and engage the Discipline level resources to advance Stantec’s tailings management practice In addition to the above responsibilities, the Senior Principal is expected to: + Assist in resource management processes, recruitment, career development, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, and leadership development across the discipline + Promote cross border collaboration between international teams to develop opportunities and execute technical work in a globally consistent manner + Responsible for having the appropriate technical expertise and talent to meet the business objectives of the business line + Maintain active involvement in technical organizations; develop discipline standards and quality assurance practices; client surveys; BC Improvement Plans. + Maintain an appropriate level of personal utilization in the range of 50-60% + Make at least one annual presentation at conferences or events attended by current or future clients and identify champions and coach them to present at major conferences. **Qualifications** **Your Capabilities and Credentials** + Passion for technical excellence, mentorship, and continuous improvement + B.Sc.
