Senior Process Engineer

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Sr. Process Engineer drives continuous improvement by developing and leading projects aimed at safety enhancements, environmental stewardship, improving product quality, reducing overall production costs, and optimizing production processes. The Sr. Process Engineer also provide capital project support by developing business cases, feasibility analyses, conceptual studies, and preliminary process design. Additionally, the Sr. Process Engineer provides operations support by assisting during new equipment start-up and trouble-shooting existing Mill systems.

 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK:

Continually optimize existing processes to maximize throughput, reduce variation, and improve product qualityLead teams and execute projects having a significant impact on the Mill’s cash costs, including Kaizens, DMAICs, and Just-Do-It (JDI)Develop data gathering, monitoring, and reporting systems to sustain gains from previous projects and identify new opportunities for improvementLead all process engineering aspects of capital projects, from front-end conceptual design through successful operation, including start-up, operations training, and post start-up optimization working in conjunction with the plant engineers.Provide technical support to Operations with troubleshooting quality and operational problemsAnalyze problems within existing systems utilizing analytical abilities and implementing recommendations for improvementResponsible to be an active member in Lean Six Sigma projects. This includes holding multiple roles within projectsResponsible for executing projects in a safe manner and observing all pertinent laws, codes, and policiesDevelop and implement Continuous Improvement goals and objectivesGather data through physical sampling or Mill’s data historian and DCS systems. Interpret data for real time process or system adjustments Perform calculations, analyze results, and provide recommendationsPlan, schedule, and organize tasks to meet deadlinesInteract effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and managementWork well in a team environment, driving leaning forward process enhancementsExercise independent and discretionary judgmentAbility to present and justify projects to management team

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science or related field is preferred3+ years of industry experience is preferredStrong interpersonal and leadership skills essentialMust have well developed written communication skillsExcellent planning, organizational, time management and prioritization skillsProficient computer skills (including MS Office)Eligible to work in the United States required
