Job Summary
As part of the R&D Process Development team, the Process R&D Engineer will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative process technologies to meet our sustainability and profitability goals. This individual will join a growing organization with the mission to drive leadership in asphalt processing and shingle manufacturing and join the core team located in the greater Dallas metro area. Responsibilities will include leading and supporting scouting, scale-up and commercialization of new asphalt oxidation, transfer, coating, blending, and homogenization processes. They also will lead new technologies driving product development, operational excellence, and sustainability goals. Working with internal and external partners, s/he will help build the innovation pipeline and develop next generation products and processes to drive profitable growth. This position is a hands-on individual contributor, who will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to drive R&D programs working closely with new product development scientists, business representatives, process services engineers and operations teams.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for contributing to the culture and growth of the organization through mentorship and strategic input to the organizational design.

Qualifications Required
Masters Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience or Ph.D. in Engineering with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Preferred)2+ years of hands-on experience in Manufacturing, Process R&D, or Product Development R&D, preferably in a high volume, continuous manufacturing environment2+ years’ experience in project management and leadership of diverse project teams
General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong process engineering background preferably in asphalt shingle manufacturing, large scale coating operations, nonwovens or films processing or alternatively in a closely related industryExperience in the residential building supplies industry or a related industryExperience with liquid and solids material handling equipmentDemonstrated ability to implement and improve manufacturing processesProven ability to define investment, timing, and deliverable requirementsProven ability to set standards for teamFamiliarity with sensors, instrumentation and controls used in the process industryAble to efficiently and effectively leverage available technologiesFamiliarity with sensors, instrumentation and controls used in the process industryExperience with material properties, analytical techniques to measure properties, critical process parameters affecting microstructure and performanceDemonstrated experience in process optimization, lean manufacturing and/or in structured problem-solving techniques to include Agile and Scrum methodologiesStrong oral and written communication and presentation skillsExperience with data analysis, DOE and statistics to extract meaningful informationStrong working knowledge of project management processes and systemsExperience in managing outside contractors to safely and efficiently implement projectsProficiency in mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic systemsExperience with process hazard analysis
