Senior Product Designer
Overview We are seeking a full-time Senior Product Designer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for designing with expertise in all aspects of user centered design to produce and give direction to others for the best design solutions. Essential Functions Performs as a design leader who guides design direction for multiple projects and takes responsibility for project planning to ensure timely project completion Makes substantial contributions to determining feasibility of project goals/objectives Partners with team leads/management to determine feature vision, visualize and communicate it Serves as the subject matter expert for a key feature or technology and communicates best practices for user experience for that feature Researches and independently provides solutions for problems that span multiple groups or disciplines Leads conversations with partners and potential clients with respect to user experience design Contributes to advanced design research for new products or markets by identifying research opportunities, creating effective research protocols, and formulating solid solutions from research results Provides input to product design plans and concept documents and applies good judgment in setting schedules/risk taking Serves as a mentor to less experienced User Experience Designers (User Experience Designer 1 & 2) Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles AND a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience OR a minimum of 9 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience performing the essential functions of the Garmin Product Designer role Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Proven track record with leading design direction for multiple projects, and ensuring effective project planning leads to timely completion of project goals/objectives Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Experience in graphics production, graphics editing technology, motion graphics, interactive design works and/or videography. Software skills using Adobe Flash or After Affects, Adobe InDesign, and/or 3D Studio Max Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
