Senior Product Developer - Beverage R&D

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is an opportunity to create and develop new beverages for a large coffee company in Seattle. Our over-arching purpose within R&D is to ignite innovation and co-create to bring the future of our client to life today. This posting is for a contractor role in beverage R&D, for the creation and optimization of beverages for our cafés and/or alternate business channels across the globe. Come be a part of our team!

Daily Responsibilities:

Contribute to our client's success by leading and executing projects through exploration and creation of new innovations and ingredient technology, in coordination with other stakeholders within and outside the team.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, across platforms or channels with some guidance, ensuring that briefs deliver to the strategy and that concepts meet the briefs.Utilize business and customer insights to generate cost savings and ingredient supply continuity that ties to broader strategy and company goals.Communicate cross-functionally and with leadership to advance recommendations and use storytelling to present concepts and ideas.Manage manufacturing trials from pilot through scale up, commercialization and launch at supplier manufacturing facilities.Apply your technical knowledge and project learnings to write plant trial protocol and product specifications, seeking guidance when needed.

Key projects:

Will work on a variety of projects as they arise based on their skill level.Work on new seasonal projects, will vary which one is assigned to them based on skillset and experience.Coffee and Dairy experience type projects, CPG or channel products.

Team Culture/Work Environment:

Collaborative R&D team working on the product launches and promos.Weekly cross functional meetings.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Educational Requirements:

Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related scientific discipline.

Years Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in food and beverage innovation/product development, bench-top to full scale commercialization and process improvement or development.

Required Experience:

Strong knowledge and experience in product development and manufacturing scale up of food and beverage products.Strong verbal and written communication skill.Applies ingredient functionality, processing, quality assurance principles, food safety requirements.Strong collaboration and problem-solving skill, managing projects and change.Project managementAbility to work in a matrixed environment.Ability to be agile and manage their time effectively based on prioritiesKnowledge of food and beverage technology, ingredient functionalities, chemistry, or engineering including processing and manufacturingUnderstanding of beverage ingredients such as sauces, syrups, dry mixes, dairy.Understanding coffee specific ingredients such as soluble and whole bean.Knowledge of development and scale up of food and beverage productsKnowledge of food quality control, safety and microbiologyKnowledge of sensory, experimental design, statistics, and consumer research methodologies

Technology Requirements:

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
