In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. As the Senior Product Development Engineer- Computation Modeling, you will provide guidance for the design, evaluation, and development of heart failure products. Collaborates with multidisciplinary product development teams to establish product development goals while ensuring market compatibility. Leads and leverages the use of computational modeling including Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics and Thermal Simulations to evaluate and optimize design solutions. **What You’ll Work On** •Contribute to the design and development of heart failure products or components through the application of scientific and engineering principles. •Oversees and performs analyses to develop design specifications and performance requirements. •Lead the utilization of computational modeling techniques to evaluate and determine optimal design solutions. Lead implementation of best practices within the R&D teams. •Contributes to and/or author reports to support product testing and analysis that meet internal quality requirements as well as meet requirements to satisfy regulatory approvals. •Collaborates across multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams to develop solutions to complex engineering challenges. •Provides technical assistance for diagnosing design and manufacturing quality problems. •Contributes to establishing best practices in use of engineering tools, data analysis, and knowledge sharing. Acts as a technical mentor to other engineers. •Guides development and documentation of test plan protocols, standard operating procedures, specifications and test procedures. •Participates in review boards for intellectual property, CAPA, complaints, business unit planning, and others as necessary. •Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. **Required Qualifications** + B.S. in a Technical Field, preferably mechanical, chemical, biomedical, industrial, or quality engineering; materials science, biochemistry, chemistry, physics or management + 8+ years in Engineering role **Preferred Qualifications** + Demonstrated successful experience in the application of engineering principles to research and/or product development activities. + Strong experience in the use of computational modeling techniques such as FEA, CFD, or Multiphysics modeling. + Demonstrated ability to develop and apply models using first principles engineering and scientific methodologies. + Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. + Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. + Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. + Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. + Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. + Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail. + Ability to travel approximately 20%, including internationally. The base pay for this position is $95,500.00 – $190,900.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
