▶ About This Opportunity
We have an amazing opportunity for a Senior ProductDevelopment Manager with a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to lead the development of new products, platforms, and packaging for the Fresh Foods.In this role, you will drive innovation through both technical knowledge in product formulation, and a strong understanding of business strategy to grow 7-Eleven’s Private Brands. You will leverage consumer insights, market trends, and category performance to prioritize opportunities for growth and execute product launches that align with our strategic objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Innovation and Product Development: Translate the Private Brand vision into a pipeline of new products and continuous improvement initiatives, balancing both the technical feasibility of product formulations and business objectives for category growth.Technical Expertise: Lead the product development process, including ingredient sourcing, formulation optimization, and packaging solutions. Ensure products meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and consumer expectations in the Fresh Foods.Business Strategy and Execution: Use consumer insights, market data, and business metrics to identify opportunities and drive product innovation that meets business goals. Present clear, data-driven product strategies to senior management to gain buy-in.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Category Managers to align private brand innovation with overall category goals. Collaborate with R&D, packaging, and supply chain teams to ensure products are technically viable and commercially successful.Team Leadership and Mentorship: Coach, mentor, and develop a team of up to two individuals, guiding them through both the technical aspects of product development and the strategic objectives of the business unit.Technical Problem Solving: Tackle challenges related to product formulation, ingredient stability, shelf-life, and production scalability. Ensure the technical integrity of all products, from concept to shelf.Packaging Innovation: Develop sustainable, cost-effective packaging solutions that align with consumer preferences and sustainability trends while ensuring technical performance during shipping and shelf life.Performance Tracking: Create and analyze product performance metrics, both technical (e.g., shelf stability, ingredient performance) and business-focused (e.g., sales, GP%), to inform future product development strategies.Consumer Research and Product Testing: Partner with user experience and consumer research teams to drive insights into customer segments and preferences. Use technical knowledge to inform product innovations that align with consumer trends in health-conscious snacking.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field-preferred.MBA or Master's Degree in a business-related field (required).Other skills that will make you successful in this role:
Minimum of 7+ years in product development for retail or CPG companies, with a strong focus on both product development and business strategy.Expertise in food science, product formulation, ingredient functionality, and shelf-life stability.Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL) to analyze product performance and market trends.Ability to leverage consumer insights, market trends, and competitive analysis to drive strategic product innovation.Experience with financial metrics (sales, GP%) and business modeling to align technical product development with overall business goals.Excellent ability to communicate complex technical information to senior management and other cross-functional teams.Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor a team, balancing both technical and business development needs.Time-management and organizational skills to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting business cases clearly and succinctly.
