Senior Product Manager, Data Platform
# About the role As a Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for shaping the strategy and roadmap for various products and services within Uber’s Data Platform. Your role will involve building features and tools to help different teams at Uber leverage data to gain insights into user interactions and make informed business decisions. You'll leverage your product management skills to understand customer use cases and pain points, ensuring that our data platform products meet their needs. Balancing priorities, collaborating with engineering leads and other stakeholders, presenting to leadership, and keeping customers and stakeholders informed will be key aspects of your job. Your technical expertise in the data domain will be crucial in ensuring Uber’s data platform remains competitive with industry standards. # About the Data Platform Uber’s Data Platform is a centralized, self-service system that supports internal customers throughout their entire data journey, from discovering and understanding data to deriving meaningful insights. With over thousands weekly active users across various data platform products, we operate at a scale that few companies globally can match. Our platform caters to diverse personas across all of Uber’s teams. # What you'll be doing - **Understand Customer Needs:** Gather and analyze customer use cases and pain points to ensure the data platform products meet their needs. - **Engage with Stakeholders:** Coordinate with various stakeholders and leadership to align on product objectives and gather feedback. - **Define Strategy and Roadmap:** Develop and execute the strategy and roadmap for Uber’s Data Platform products and services. - **Prioritize Features:** Balance and prioritize feature development based on customer needs, business goals, and resource constraints. - **Collaborate with Engineering:** Work closely with engineering leads to translate product requirements into technical specifications and ensure timely delivery. - **Monitor Product Performance:** Track and analyze product performance metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of data platform products. - **Present to Customers and Leadership :** Prepare and deliver presentations to customers and senior leadership, showcasing progress, insights, and future plans for the data platform. - **Manage Communication:** Keep customers and stakeholders informed about product updates, releases, and changes through regular communication channels. - **Drive Innovation:** Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the data platform to enhance user experience and drive business value. - **Ensure Industry Standards:** Utilize your technical expertise to ensure that Uber’s data platform remains competitive and adheres to industry best practices. # skills - 8+ years of experience as a Product Manager, including at least 3+ years in data platforms, data analytics, engineering platforms or ML/AI platforms. - Track record of successfully managing and evolving a product portfolio, as well as driving product vision and strategy. - A combination of technical expertise and domain knowledge in data platforms , with a focus on customer needs. - Passionate about data and experience with some of the following: Big data products and tech stack, ETL/ELT Platforms, Python notebooks, and BI Tools. - Strategic thinker capable of linking customer use cases to technology solutions, with a comprehensive view of the end-to-end experience. - Proficient in using both qualitative and quantitative methods to define and measure success. - Relies on product intuition and judgment to address problems and make decisions with incomplete information. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey clear expectations and maintain timely updates. - Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to clearly tell a story and connect it to the bigger picture.
