Senior Product Software Engineer

We are seeking a talented, collaborative, high-energy software professional with extensive technical expertise and a passion for software craftsmanship to help build and test the next generation of our cloud-based data pipelines, embedded APIs, web services, and web applications.  Medi-Span technology products are critical components of the clinical workflow when embedded in today’s electronic health record systems and pharmacy systems.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Effectively collaborate within a product-focused Scrum agile development team to:

Deliver world-class healthcare technology products of the highest quality utilizing agile engineering and DevOps practicesDefine, design, estimate, and plan user storiesApply technical and customer service skills to solve client problems and assist with high profile product implementationsSystematically troubleshoot production issues and deliver timely resolutionsContinuously improve self, team, and the larger organization, as well as the technology products and the processes for delivering and supporting those products.

Job Qualifications

Basic Qualifications5+ years of experience writing high-quality, well-tested code, especially in Java or C#3+ years of experience in creating an object-oriented design and applying software patterns3+ years of experience mentoring other software engineersProficient with agile engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD, pair programming, code reviews, etc.3+ years of experience with REST web services and web applications3+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL

Preferred QualificationsOpen to working in both Java and C#Experience with REST web services and web applicationsExperience with enterprise application technologies (e.g. Java EE, Spring, or .Net)Proficient on the command-line and with writing shell scriptsAbility to collaborate well on a cross-functional teamAbility to imagine yourself in the customer’s shoesKnowledge of cloud technology (e.g. AWS, Azure, Docker, or Kubernetes)Knowledge of application security practicesExperience with content and data pipelinesExperience with Agile software developmentExperience with Windows and LinuxExperience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Oracle databasesExperience in developing and troubleshooting database stored proceduresExperience with SQL performance tuningExperience with web UI technologies (e.g. Bootstrap, JQuery, or React)Experience in a highly-regulated industry
