Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Production Specialist who will provide technical support for the production function. The incumbent will oversee the daily activities of the production group, plan and schedule PM activities of the production group on outage, serve as a liaison between the production, technical, and maintenance groups, and act as relief supervisor as needed.
Essential Duties
Contribute to site safety programs and adhere to plant safety policies; complete required safety training and use safe work practices; participate in Safety and Housekeeping audits.Partner with Human Resources to coordinate orientation, training and certification of new or transferred employees. Ensure that training programs stay current with equipment and process changes. Maintain an ongoing operator training process that ensures all operators are skilled in the function to which they are assigned.Serve as an internal consultant to supervisors and operators, offering technical expertise and guidance as needed. Represent production issues and expertise in assisting maintenance, engineering, and technical personnel.Contribute to the production department's goal-setting, strategy-development, decision-making and planning.Ensure safe, efficient utilization of equipment and facilities. Stimulate maximum safety, quality, efficiency and productivity of employees. Provide a safe workplace through adherence to company safety, policy, and housekeeping and defined standards of training.Foster continuous improvement through sound management practices including: communication of goals, training of operators, recommend and implement changes in methods and machinery, identify and resolve process variation. Ability to effectively communicate the Bonus Plan to all employees to maximize participation and impact on performance.Follow up on all incident investigations to make certain corrective actions are completed, in addition to assisting with incident and accident reporting.Prepare and monitor process checklists and perform other duties as assigned.Resource for operational troubleshooting, problem solving, and debottlenecking efforts. Provide support for on call requirementsSupports the technical group with process related trialFill in for the Production Manager as neededApply continuous improvement methods such as 5S and LEAN principles to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost effectiveness.Drive the continued use of Braincube and other analytical tools (Aspen, etc.) for the production team and centerlining efforts. Reviews Braincube database daily and reports out on deviations from centerlineSupports and champions Factory of the Future Initiatives as neededMaintains updated records of CAPA’s that are directly tied to the production teamCoordinates with supervisors on Annual refresher training, tracks completion of training and team SLT discussions.Coordinates orientation of new employees from interviews through the end of orientation process for continual progression.Maintains and coordinates for updated GOP’s, JSA’s, and PJB’sAssist in keeping the supervisors and S/O’s updated on BC trends and trainingMaintain environmental compliance; maintain compliance with the city and state practices and guidelines. Ensuring and following up with production activities that have an impact on these standards
Qualifications Required
H.S. Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or Associate’s Degree (AA) coupled with 7+ of demonstrated experience in a high speed continuous industrial/manufacturing environment. RequiredBachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in technical or management field of study is preferred, coupled with 2+ years experience in a high speed continuous industrial/manufacturing environment.Experience working in a glass mat plant or paper mill is preferred.Demonstrated experience with Maximo is a plus.Demonstrated project planning and implementation experience; intermediate proficiency in or Google Suite, and a CMMS.
