What does the role look like?

In this role you will be accountable for the successful delivery of all New Product Introduction (NPI) within the Global Defence Systems (GDS) team. 

You will work with a multi-functional team to achieve the goals and objectives of the business by leading the PM team across the NPI projects to ensure projects are delivered to Time, Cost and Performance. You will ensure that projects are managed within the Collins Management System (CMS) and compliance with internal reporting met. 

We're looking for someone who is a critical thinker and problem solver, who has experience of delivering design, build and qualification programmes within a defence, aviation or closely related, regulated environment. Furthermore your previous experience will include a detailed understanding of developing and maintaining performance metrics and deploying earn value management.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

Directly leads small team within PM discipline to lead the NPI programmesRunning a regular cadence review to take weekly performance to plan on all NPI programmesDirectly leads multiple IPDTs of varying complexity across multiple projects or a single programmeAccountable for all programme outcomes associated with work scope, including but not limited to cost schedule and quality including the P&L activities associated with each of these itemsAccountable for NPI programme reporting across GDSAccountable for P&L outcomes associated with projects within the portfolioAccountable for ensuring the drumbeat of the programme is executed within the required governance structureKey customer relationship manager taking the role as primary customer contact or potentially first line of escalation depending on project magnitudeLeads all activities associated with portfolio of customers including deploying customer first, monitoring results and taking appropriate actions to ensure best in class performanceManages deployment of customer strategy in line with strategic planning requirements definedCaptures best practice and learning from experience from across portfolio and deploys to improve the business

What will you bring to the role?

Essential skills:

Experience of delivering design, build and qualification programmes within a defence, aviation or closely related, regulated environment.Sound business and financial acumen, with demonstrable experience of managing budgets in excess of $10M.A detailed understanding of developing and maintaining performance metrics and deploying earn value management.A critical thinker and problem solver.

Desirable skills:  

Demonstrable experience in scheduling programmes utilsing agile, rolling wave planning and waterfall methodologies.Coaches junior project management staff to continuously achieve the required skill base breadth and depthFully utilise their extended network and influencing skills to gain collaborative agreement with key stakeholders to progress project or business needsEnable and empower others within the business to be successfulAdvise and arbitrate on issues which relate to complex or sensitive assumptions, approaches, arguments, conclusions and decisionsDevelop personnel and team experiences to improve critical thinking in self and othersAdvise on strategies for improving team dynamics on complex or challenging teamsEnable others towards continuous learning and self-development and act as role-modelDemonstrates excellent understanding of the activities of other functions and how these can be combined for highly performing projectsEngineering or Manufacturing experience would be helpfulAccreditation with APM or PPM again would be helpful
