Senior Project Accountant

Job Summary:

You are a Senior Project Accountant reporting to the Project Controller. As the Project Accountant you are responsible for the accurate and timely entry and reporting of data in the company financial systems. You will be responsible for: accounts receivable, subcontract management, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable, month end and key financial reporting/analysis. You will partner with management and project teams, through effective communication, to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of data, while also helping them to leverage that data to enhance business performance. Essential responsibilities:

Cost reporting and strategic analysisImplementation and management of effective Project Cost ControlsUnderstand and articulate project contractual commercial termsCommunicate reporting information and interpretations with leadershipInfluences the development and implementation of collective agreementsCoordinate the collection and submission of documentation required for invoicing, including statutory declarations and WCB clearance letters, etc.Prepare and submit LEMs to the clientCollecting third party invoices to support client billingsPrepare monthly equipment rental billingsPrepare progress billings, invoices, and holdback releasesProcess electronic billing submissions and reconcile client billings system and adjust as requiredTrack outside rental agreements against contract agreementsWork with field teams and payroll group to ensure time entry is completed in a timely mannerWork with the Project Management team to identify potential change ordersSubcontractor managementPrepare month end journal entries

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar roleMust have a post-secondary business degreeMust have Experience within commercial construction, Telecom or a related industry is preferredMust have knowledge of JD Edwards or similar large ERP is preferredWorking knowledge of construction methodsFinancial acumen regarding equipment utilization, rates, equipment capital decisions, and profitability analysisWorking knowledge of construction accounting principlesWorking knowledge of construction software systemsStrong analytical skills and problem solvingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Work Conditions:

This position offers work from home options with the understanding that at times you may be required to attend the office or travel to the project site as business needs require
