Your OpportunityAs Stantec's Mining group continues to grow, we have the need for a strong, Senior Project Control Specialist – with focused experience in planning / scheduling to join our team in the either the Sudbury, North Bay or Saskatoon office. The Senior Project Control Specialist reports to the Project Controls Manager, but on a day-to-day basis works in collaboration with Project Managers and project teams.
Your Key Responsibilities Tracks and updates project budget, costs, change orders, and trends Tracks and updates project progress and performance Responds to the needs of project managers and assumes responsibility for executing the cost control activities required on an individual project basis Monitors committed, incurred and actual costs Earned value management reporting Developing project schedules to be included in projects ranging from order-of-magnitude level to detailed schedules suitable for detailed design, and construction based on using Critical Path Methodology. Creating and maintaining schedules for construction and design projects that are critical for project cost control and execution. Schedules will be in a format suitable for use by the client, Project Manager, and project team. Prior to the start of a project, develop baselined schedules coordinating with Project Manager and team to logically sequence all scope of work to be performed. Maintain and progress baseline schedule for each project, along with identify and record the impacts of work performed. Evaluate actual progress and provide regular schedule updates. Incorporate resource and / or cost loading data into schedules as required. Interface with the client and project team to discuss impact of work and resolution of problems. Contribute to the development of working schedules for estimating prior to proposal date, which sufficiently illustrates the sequence of work activities and contract time. Incorporate resource and / or cost loading data into schedules as required. Consult the appropriate project team members and estimating procedures as a means of ensuring that proper planning is completed prior to the commencement of work. Assist Project Managers in creating short-term schedules, monitor such schedules to determine impact on master schedule and help in formulating actions to correct scheduling problems. Provide information as needed on the content, modification, or presentation of project schedule. Change Management ‒ Executing the integrated change control process over cost baselines. Support the Project Controls Specialists and Project Managers with the change control process and implementation of change control requirements around scope, cost, schedule Assist with monitoring the change request, assessment, process, approval, and implementation Reporting: Support recurring and ad-hoc reporting requirements Actively participate in the project report preparation activities Other Scheduling & Cost Control related activities as per Project Controls Manager directionsThe duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
Your Capabilities and Credentials Practical underground mine development and construction experience Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly excel Experience developing engineering, procurement, and execution schedules, resource loading, and tracking project progress using P6. Must have a proven track record of positively contributing to a multi-disciplinary project design, procurement, and construction team Strong task management skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities High level organizational and planning skills Demonstrated success in building trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders Excellent & demonstrated computer skills (i.e., Primavera, MS Office, MS Project, Adobe, SAP, etc.) Strong leadership, communicative, analytical and adaptability skills Must be self-sufficient, self-motivated and the ability to multitask Education and Experience Professional Degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is considered an asset Completion of a diploma or degree in a certified project management program is considered an asset Minimum 7 years of related experience in a project environment with a construction and / or engineering backgroundThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.
