Arcadis is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Utility Coordinator to join our growing Utilities team in West-Toronto at 175 Galaxy Blvd. This is a leadership opportunity to take ownership of utility design and coordination efforts for large-scale transportation projects, applying your expertise to address complex challenges and deliver impactful results.
In this role, you will lead planning, design, and close-out phases for utility relocations, working with gas, hydro, water, telecom, and wastewater infrastructure. You will collaborate with utility providers, evaluate subsurface utility engineering (SUE) data, classify utilities, and address critical challenges impacting project delivery. Your leadership will guide the project team in achieving utility-related goals and ensuring compliance with technical standards.

Role accountabilities:
As a Senior Utility Coordinator, you will lead:
Utility Coordination and Communication: Acting as the primary liaison between the project team and utility providers, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle. Leading meetings with utility companies to gather information on existing infrastructure, as-built data, and future plans. Managing communication with stakeholders to align utility-related activities with broader project objectives. Utility Design and Planning: Overseeing the preparation of preliminary and detailed designs in CAD for dry and wet utilities, including utility relocation and protection strategies. Developing and reviewing designs for utility protection and relocation, ensuring compliance with standards and project requirements. Leading the creation of construction staging designs, drawings, and associated quantity take-offs. Technical Review and Analysis: Reviewing, updating, and validating utility data provided by design teams, consultants, and utility providers. Analyzing technical alternatives, resolving complex technical issues, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines. Overseeing SUE deliverables to confirm scope alignment and identifying additional work required. Risk Management and Problem-Solving: Identifying and mitigating potential conflicts with critical utilities that could impact project procurement or delivery. Assessing and classifying utilities to determine relocation requirements and critical path impacts. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining detailed and accurate documentation of all utility coordination activities, including meeting minutes, correspondence, and utility relocation plans. Preparing comprehensive reports and updates for project managers, highlighting risks, progress, and next steps. Developing cost estimates and quantity take-offs to support project budgeting and planning.Qualifications & Experience:
Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), undergraduate degree in civil engineering, or a related field, specializing in transportation engineering. PEO registration or eligibility is considered an asset. 8+ years of experience in utility coordination, utility design, or related roles in Metrolinx, MTO, or municipal projects. Hands-on experience in design development and production of construction drawings for MTO and/or municipal projects. Proficiency in design software such as Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and Bentley products (MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads). Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with utility companies, project teams, and stakeholders. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.#LI-MT2
