We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team within the Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Electro-Mechanical Interface Device(s) (EMIDs) Hydro-Mechanical Make group in the Engine Control Systems organization. This role involves executing engineering tasks in a fast-paced environment, focusing on the development and integration of components for engine programs.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will collaborate closely with suppliers and customers to design, develop, and enhance aerospace components for both commercial and military engine programs. You will be responsible for all technical aspects of electromechanical devices that interface electronic controls with mechanical systems. What You Will Do 

Lead the technical execution of EMIDs design from requirement development and design through verification, validation, and production incorporation, using Engineering Standard Work. 

Manage project scope, schedule, cost, risk, and ensure adherence to commitments while utilizing Earned Value (EV) methods. 

Coordinate and lead team meetings, drive action item closures, and develop project schedules with dependencies and critical paths. 

Oversee hardware development configurations, address procurement challenges, and support process certification and production incorporation. 

Develop and review system concepts, design requirements, test procedures, and technical documents; analyze and report test results. 

Investigate issues from service or engine tests, implement Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA), and support process improvement and Engineering Standard Work. 

Review and ensure supplier has the technical capabilities and correctly interprets, allocates, derives, validates, and traces the requirements during the design and testing of the product, validating through design reviews. 

Create and manage schedules, budgets for new business proposals, and ensure clear communication of technical requirements to suppliers. 

Coordinate engineering change activities and collaborate with various departments including Program Management Office, Supplier Quality, Program Quality, Service Engineering, Aftermarket Program Management, Supply Chain Management and Value Stream Management. 

Implement and utilize CORE Tools and processes to ensure robust design. 

Engage appropriate technical expertise from within Collins to cover areas outside of their engineering background or experience. 

Perform system and component requirements review and compliance assessments 

10% domestic travel may be required 

 

Qualifications You Must Have 

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience. 

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirement 

 

Qualifications We Prefer 

Must be an independent, self-motivated individual with strong project management skills. 

Experience in working with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams. 

Proficiency in electrical circuits, electro mechanics, hydraulics, magnetics, electronics, instrumentation, motion control, servomechanisms, sensors, and effectors. 

Familiarity with 3D design tools, engineering materials, and manufacturing processes. 

Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Project). 

Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. 

Outstanding oral, written, and presentation communication skills. 

Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent organizational and time management abilities.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
