Your role and responsibilities

Review orders and interpret customer and sales specifications and translate into instructions for manufactureCreates Class I and Class II drawings, Single & Three Line, Schematic Diagrams and customer approval documents as neededOversees all Component Layout Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, Interconnection Diagrams, Wire Markers Spreadsheets and Component Identification Labels SpreadsheetsDetermines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimatesExecute assigned orders to ensure a high degree of accuracy and on time delivery of engineering drawings and documentation. Manage workload to provide quick turn around on revise and resubmit requestsCreate and support technical documentation for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies, standards and proceduresConfigure and manage BOMs (Bill of materials), technical specifications sheets and engineering drawings. Suggest design optimization concepts to increase order marginRespond to factory floor requests with a high sense of urgency by meeting with production team on factory floor, driving technical solutions, generating updated drawings and/or bill of materials, etcProvide technical support across the whole order lifespan (quoting, engineering/design, manufacturing, testing and post shipment stages) as requiredMaintains network of engineering professionals and shares engineering best practice across different projects and disciplinesComplete on a timely basis all data entry including labor vouchering, required job milestone dates (drawing submittal, BOM release, etc.)Share appropriate engineering information through open dialogue with other functions in factory and abroadParticipate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrencesContribute to lessons learned by capturing mistakes and communicating to responsible parties to drive continuous improvementEmbrace Engineering tools to drive efficiency and accuracy by providing feedback and contributing to testing of new tool featuresCoaches, provides support and technical advice to colleaguesPromote open communication and maintain effective working relationships within team and cross functionally with other teamsCollaborate with upper leadership to create engineering documentation, standards and best practicesInteracts with customers, officials, contractors and others. Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignmentsPerform other local tasks as required

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university and minimum 5 years relevant industry experience5 or more years of experience with electrical distribution equipment preferred5 or more years of experience interpreting or creating one line diagrams and electrical schematics preferredDemonstrated analytical skills with ability to analyze and resolve problemsDemonstrated ability to read and interpret schematics & technical specificationsAbility to work independently or as part of a teamAbility to welcome change and work in fast paced environmentStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsProject management skills with ability to plan, execute & document programs / projectsSelf-starter, ability to work with minimal supervisionWillingness to support off shift manufacturing teamsWorking knowledge of ANSI/IEEE/NEMA Standards and UL/CSA certificationExperience working in a production or engineering environmentComputer skills in Office and experience with software design tools such as EPLAN and CREOCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
