Position Summary:
The Senior Project Engineer will be part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining designs for Medical Devices. This person needs to have strong technical skills in mechanical engineering with relevant experience in design of electro-mechanical systems. The position will be hands-on and the individual must be capable of creative and systematic product development with minimum supervision. The position will require the individual to be a team player with the ability to function well in a challenging and fast paced environment.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Applying knowledge of engineering principles to design, develop, and test all aspects of electro-mechanical surgical instrumentsSupporting the creation of product requirements, specifications, and test documentsSupporting the development of manufacturing test fixtures and documentationObtaining market feedback from surgeons and other customers to determine functional and design specifications for new product development.Creating and maintaining project plans and FDA complaint Design history Files (DHF) for each projectManaging all aspects of assigned projects to ensure timely completion of tasks while remaining in full compliance with Globus quality system and other applicable regulatory bodiesDesigning and developing instruments using Creo softwarePartnering with in-house prototype shop and outside vendors for rapid prototyping and evaluationPerforming design verification and validation activities to ensure designs meet specificationsCollaborating with marketing and product managers to develop forecasts and market plansAssisting in the writing of regulatory applications to the FDA and other regulatory bodiesPartnering with the operations department to setup manufacturing and/or purchasing as appropriate for each projectParticipating in product introductions through sales training, customer calls/visits, etc.Maintaining diligent post introduction monitoring to address and customer requests for changesResearching industry and direct competitors on an ongoing basis to ensure that Globus has cutting edge technology in all markets enteredPartnering with manufacturing, internal testing, and external customers when presented with quality issues. Prioritizing work to identify the root cause and create a corrective plan that ensures timely resolution of issuesMaintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societiesAdhering to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies. Ensure Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your roleRepresenting the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties of Globus.In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of experience or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experienceElectro-mechanical backgroundExperience with 3D modeling CAD software, PTC Creo preferredStrong aptitude for mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing methodsFamiliarity with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and proceduresExperience in Medical Device product development a plusAbility to work independently and as a key contributor in small teamsExcellent oral, written, and communication skillsMotivated self-starter with good time management and organizational skillsProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to travel up to 10% of the timeOther Duties:
