Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? Sargent and Lundy (S&L) is looking for a diverse individual who is capable of handling various roles in the project management field. The individual will be working in the field of project engineering, cost estimating, and scheduling/project controls.
As a Project Engineer, you will be assigned to work on and/or lead one or more project teams and assist the engineering team members in the execution of their project work in the following areas:
Coordinating the development of design drawings, engineering analyses, and construction specificationsAuthoring/leading the development of engineering equipment lists and engineering studies/reportsWork with SmartPlant Foundation (client document system)Internal and external tracking, management, and reporting of project performance and schedule progressLead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budgetAssist with the scope, organization, and pricing of equipment, material, and labor for construction cost estimatesWork with vendors to obtain material and equipment pricingPerform material quantity take-offsOrganize and input cost and quantity information into existing Excel databasesAssist in the development of written reports including Basis of EstimateImplement project controls and project management tools and methodologyPerform CPI/SPI calculations using earned value principlesMonitor and forecast budgets in accordance with a work breakdown structure (WBS) accounting systemOn an ongoing basis, develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including resource loading labor hours to schedule activitiesCommunicate variances against monthly work plan projections, monitor performances against the plan, and develop recovery plans when applicable QualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
Essential skills and experience:
Must be able to pass a U.S. Government security clearance checkConstruction Management, Engineering, or Business DegreeA minimum of 10 years of relevant work experienceCapable of reading and understanding construction drawings and specificationsBasic understanding of estimating functions from the conceptual design phase through the construction phase of a projectSkilled with Excel software and building moderate complexity spreadsheetsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, along with teamwork skillsFamiliarity with quality assurance programs (such as NQA-1)Related engineering internship or work experience, which includes project controls, project planning, project scheduling, and earned value performanceValued but not required skills and experience:
