AAS Controls Engineering Group Leader

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a design authority for an engineering discipline. Each day, you will complete assignments on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring assignments are completed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cyber-security policies and standards.The work model for the role is: #LI - onsiteThis role is contributing to the Robotics & Discrete Automation Robotics division in the US. Main stake-holders are both our internal and external customers.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tWorking with the customer to shape and deliver solutions while seeking customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements.•\tCreating work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects and ensuring quality, time-ly implementation within the targeted cost.•\tCoordinating with relevant functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured / staged, tested, installed, and commissioned.•\tCoaching engineering colleagues on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, best practices, and lessons learned from past projects.Our team dynamicsYou will join a large, high performing team, where you will be developing your career and your knowledge.

Qualifications for the role

\tMinimum: AA in Engineering - Preferably in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science.\t10+ years of automation programming experience required.\tAdvanced knowledge of automation and robotic systems applications. Specifically, material handling, machine tending, part washing, and vision guided robotics applications.\tEfficient using AutoCAD or EPLAN to generate control system packages.\tFunctional electrical maintenance and troubleshooting skills.\tCompetence in industrial machinery controls design.\tRobot programming experience primarily with ABB products.\tPLC/HMI programming experience with an emphasis on Rockwell, and Siemens architectures.\tFunctional experience programming VFD’s and Servo controllers.\tFamiliar with international standards (IEC, ISO, NFPA, NEC, UL).\tFamiliar with Chrysler, Ford, and GM standards and specifications.\tAbility to travel about 20%.\tCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
