About the job:
Kent is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to be based in the Houston, TX office to support our O&G and renewable energy projects.
As a key member of the Project Management team, the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the management and coordination of all technical aspects of new capital projects. This role ensures that engineering is aligned with corporate goals and is complete, accurate and constructible for all elements of a project's scope.
You will oversee contractor's engineering performance and coordinate all contractor and owner's engineering interfaces in addition to ensuring projects are completed according to project requirements and in accordance with project specifications, quality and performance requirements. You will be responsible for coordinating efforts of cross-functional teams and building effective relationships with key internal/external stakeholders, including contractors. The Senior Project Engineer is required to work directly with the Project Manager and Project Controls Specialist to ensure process alignment and compliance.
You will interact with other disciplines and groups, corporate technical networks and peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed for the successful execution of the projects.
Skills and Responsibilities: Supports/Leads cross-functional team consisting of internal Subject Matter Experts, Owners Engineers, Contractors and Technical Consultants from development of Engineering contract through the delivery of the Project and Closeout. Ensures documentation of engineering and design quality is adequately captured to support audit and prudency review.Manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.Coordinates with the Project Manager in following the Project Delivery System and ensuring requirements are met and producing associated deliverables. Participates in contractor/vendor selection process with a specific goal of assessing engineering experience, competencies and capability. Supports/Leads technical open book engineering process with contractors during development of major projects and applies value engineering concepts to ensure projects are competitive. Performs/Manages the review of engineering design to assure compliance with the contract, design codes, and client standards while ensuring design supports the strategic, operational and maintenance goals of the project.Assists Contractor and Vendors during design to resolve technical queries, and interfaces. Ensure coordination of interfaces among engineering disciplines and with procurement, vendors, and partners.Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.All other duties as assigned. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.Professional registrations or license is not required but is preferred.Minimum 10 years related experience in design engineering or consulting required. Previous Engineering & Construction (E&C) experience is preferred.Minimum 5 years in Project Engineering role required.Previous experience working in large FEED or EPC projects.In depth understanding of the Oil & Gas industry, and stakeholders including operators, EPC providers, Engineering houses, classification societies, fabrication yards and installation companies.Proficiency with Auto CAD, NavisWorks, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other related programs.Proven experience on Project Execution. Communication:Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal/rapport building skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and to plan/coordinate processes for results.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:Ability to set priorities, work independently, and coordinate multiple projects utilizing available resources.
