Creates engineering designs for industrial material handling storage systems. Typical projects include the

design and installation of industrial steel storage racks, structural steel platforms, conveyor support structures,

shelving, elevated walkways, and custom designed products in large distribution centers. Offers a unique

opportunity for professional growth and advancement. May lead project work and provide direction to less-

senior team members

Responsibilities Performs diverse, specialized and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibilityDesigns new automated and semi-automated material handling systems and proposes modifications to existing equipment; customizes standard designs based on customer specifications and scope documentsCreates description of operation documents to ensure designs meet customer expectationsCreates approval, permit, installation, and fabrication drawings using AutoCADObtains material and product quotes from vendors and issues purchase orders and estimates costsMonitors the project schedule, engineering time line, and material costsWorks with other disciplines on project team to make sure engineered solution and all equipment fit within system confines and constraintsLeads and directs the work of less-senior project engineers and designersTravels up to 30% Qualifications Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent experienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in engineering design and project executionMinimum of 7 years of engineering or construction experience, preferably in the material handling industryProficient in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, SharePoint and VisioAbility to speak Japanese is a plusAbility to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environmentAbility to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installersAbility to lead work teams and projects effectivelyStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrategic thinking and problem-solving skillsTeam-oriented and collaborativeSelf-motivated and detail-orientedAbility to learn new technology
