Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to be a leader in the design and development of new motors platforms and technology. A leader in the development of new products for Variable Speed, DC, Marine, Nuclear, Submersible, Specialty AC, Navy and Mining product lines. The top applicant shall be able to identify, propose and implement innovative solutions for electric motors and use unique technical knowledge to oversee development projects and tasks. Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development for specific product-related issues and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions.The work model for the role is: #LI - RemoteThis role is contributing to the Motion NEMA Motors division in Greenville, NC. Main stakeholders are both our internal and external customers.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tMaintaining recognized expertise in a specific area by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies into your work.•\tFinding new ways of solving problems by following your ideas, creating hypotheses, and defining ways to validate them.•\tDocumenting work results (like findings, designs, or software), allowing others to maintain and improve them.•\tUnderstanding and initiating IP generation in your area of specialization and participating in the project IP strategy development.Our team dynamicsYou will join a {insert adjectives – e.g. dynamic, talented, high performing} team, where you will be able to thrive.
Qualifications for the roleBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering AND 20 years’ design experience in electrical design, OR Master’s degree in electrical engineering AND 15 years’ design experience in electrical design OR PhD degree in electrical engineering AND 10 years’ experience in in electrical engineering.10 years or more of experience with motor design.Experience in the manufacture of electric motors preferred.Experience in FEA modeling preferred.PhD degree with motor research experience preferred.Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
