Senior Project Manager
This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time **Senior Project Manager - National Rail Business Line** to be located preferably in our Philadelphia, PA and Denver, CO offices. The selected candidate will be supporting WSP’s clients engaged in the procurement, retrofit, maintenance and operation of light rail vehicle fleets. Your Impact + Lead specification development efforts in the area of rail vehicles. + Lead overhaul oversight activities in the areas of material usage, labor, quality, scheduling and budget. + Have a track record of performing engineering analysis and root cause determination of problematic systems. + Assume technical and managerial responsibility for the preparation of technical reports as requested by the client. + Preparation of progress reports during the light rail build phase (new or rebuild) for the client. + Assume a lead role in assisting in new pursuits in terms of presentations and proposal writing. + Supervise and mentor junior staff to support their growth and professional development. + Perform billable work and other tasks as assigned based on training + Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff. + Remain current in latest transit and rail engineering techniques and practices. + Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities. + Ability to travel for project work. + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, or closely related discipline. + 12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior transit and rail experience. + Lead specification development efforts in the area of heavy rail vehicles + Highly proficient with transit and rail engineering principles, practices, process, and design/build on major infrastructure projects, particularly railway civil works, transit stations, bridges, and elevated structures. + Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies + Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization. + Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC. + Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRail), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools. + Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity. + Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution. + Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment. + Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. + This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP. **Preferred Qualifications** + Master’s Degree in Engineering. + Rail transit design experience. + Engineer license preferred. + Professional Management Professional (PMP) certification. **WSP Benefits** WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career. Expected Salary (Colorado only): $130,700 - $240,050 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
