HDR has an exciting opportunity for a proven leader and technically exceptional individual in municipal utility marketplace to join our Florida Water Business Group as a Senior Project Manager.

You will be responsible for scoping, planning, managing, directing and monitoring all aspects of small to large municipal utility projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and utility management. More specifically, the Senior Municipal Project Manager will be expected to effectively interface with clients while independently leading and supervising teams of engineers and CAD professionals to develop planning documents (e.g. master plans), preliminary engineering reports, detailed designs including plans and specifications, and cost estimates. Specific responsibilities will include:

Serving as the trust client-facing project manager for a variety of technical delivery projects that exceed the Owner’s expectationsPreparing and developing preliminary design, basis of design reports, design criteria, schematics, routing and alignment studies, and other engineering reportsOverseeing the production of design drawings and specificationsDeveloping and executing QA/QC and risk management plans for each projectLead and/or support client management and business development activities including pursuit planning, proposals, interviews, and client strategyProvide technical mentorship, coaching and supervision for project staff

If needed, the Senior Municipal Project Manager may be needed to perform detailed design work themselves to support the project and as such, the candidate should have an exceptional demonstrated technical background.

Beyond technical delivery, the Senior Municipal Project Manager will be expected to collaborate with leadership, other project managers, and technical staff across Florida to maintain HDR’s commitment to excellent technical delivery for our clients. Opportunities will be available to provide project management and project delivery support for cross-business group and cross-sector (e.g. Transportation and Coastal / Resilience projects and pursuits), especially in the South Florida market.

Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering15 years related experience in the municipal utility and/or public works industryExperience in coastal engineering and resiliency Experience in Utility ManagementExisting and established relationships with clients in the municipal and utility marketplace Experience developing detailed scopes and fees for a wide variety of planning and design projectsExcellent communication, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills Experience in supervising staff, mentorship, and development of skills of staffPreference given to local candidatesRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering 10 years related experience A minimum 5 years project management experience Professional Engineer (PE) license MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus) Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
