Senior Project Manager

Our organization is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Project Manager to join its staff. This position will report directly to the Executive Director of the Services Program Management Division and will be focused on implementing standard project management processes, procedures, and tools to meet the cost, schedule, and performance objectives for the client. You will lead client-facing programs with industry and government. The ideal candidate will also possess expertise in organizational management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong management abilities, and a keen attention to detail.
This position is located at the Pentagon. Additional travel may include Management Concepts’ corporate office in Tysons Corner, VA. Some local travel, as well as national travel, may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This role requires a combination of leadership skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of military operations to successfully manage complex projects in a high-stakes environment.
+ Strategic Planning and Oversight:
+ Develop and oversee project plans to meet objectives, ensuring alignment with customer goals and policies.
+ Define project scope, requirements, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
+ Ensure compliance with regulations, including acquisition processes and federal standards
+ Support the development of strategic goals and objectives
+ Leadership and Team Management:
+ Lead cross-functional teams to execute projects effectively
+ Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to enhance performance and professional growth
+ Foster collaboration among various internal and external team members and stakeholders
+ Execution and Coordination:
+ Manage the entire project lifecycle, from initiation to closure, ensuring timelines, budgets, and objectives
+ Coordinate actions across other team members to streamline operations
+ Monitor progress through effective communication tools and reporting mechanisms such as risk registers and monthly updates
+ Policy Development and Problem-Solving:
+ Address issues related to cost management, risk mitigation, and resource allocation
+ Develop strategies to overcome challenges in dynamic environments while maintaining high standards of performance
+ Review policies and procedures and provide recommended changes for sustainment of the DoD Financial Management Certification Program
+ Communication and Reporting:
+ Prepare concise reports for senior management summarizing project status, risks, and recommendations.
+ Maintain effective communication with stakeholders at all levels to ensure transparency and accountability.
+ Provide strategic communications needs for Workforce and Development initiatives
+ Advanced Technical Knowledge:
+ Apply knowledge of contract management principles, and advanced decision-making skills to achieve project success
+ Provides Program and Project management subject matter expertise and leadership
+ Utilize project management tools like Microsoft Project, Excel, or PowerPoint for deliverables, planning and reporting purposes

· Proficiency in monitoring contractor performance and adherence to contract terms
· Skill in addressing disputes and resolving issues during contract execution
· Ability to manage contract modifications as needed
Strategic Planning and Risk Management:
· Capability to identify potential risks that could impact contract performance, budget, or schedule
· Skill in developing strategies to mitigate risks through contingency planning and alternative approaches
Core Competencies:
· Strong analytical skills for complex information analysis and data-driven decision-making
· Exceptional attention to detail in reviewing contract terms and ensuring compliance
· High ethical standards and integrity in all procurement activities
Technical Proficiency:
· Proficiency in Project Management software and principles
· Familiarity with Microsoft Project
· Ability to obtain and maintain required government clearances
DoD FM Financial Management Expertise:
- Knowledge of the DoD FM Certification Process
- Familiarity with DoD Financial Management Policies and Procedures
- Lead development of FM Certification and LMS Training materials
- Support sustainment of DoD FM Certification Program
Key Accountabilities:
- Productive Utilization – Senior Project Lead’s provide direct support to client projects to deliver content / product solutions and should reach pre-determined utilization targets.
- Client Satisfaction – Projects in the Senior Project Lead’s portfolio will be evaluated using an independent client evaluation process.
- Project Performance - The Senior Project Lead will continually monitor projects to ensure they are meeting schedule and budget and stay within project scope.
- Personnel Management – the Senior Project will have direct reports that they are responsible for managing.
Education and Experience:
Qualified candidates will possess:
· An advanced degree in management, accounting, economics, or finance with a minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience
or
· A bachelor’s degree with 17 years of experience
or
· 21 years of experience with no degree; and 2 or more years of supervisory or project management experience.
· PMP preferred
*Must have a Secret Security Clearance
