The **Senior Project Manager** supports School Assessment in the successful delivery and fulfillment of assigned program(s).  In this role you will need to be self-motivated, diligent, and able to meet business and project demands within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role requires experience with the item, stimulus, and test development process and will be instrumental in the development and implementation of assessment solutions. The most successful candidates have classroom experience and understand how student performance foundations and trends are reflected in assessment design. You will spend considerable time communicating and collaborating with the customer and other stakeholders (vendors, cross-functional teams, subcontractors) involved in the delivery of assigned projects or programs to ensure customer satisfaction. As a successful **Senior Project Manager,** youwill anticipate opportunities and issues proactively as well as manage scope using project management applications and tools. You will provide leadership throughout the contract life cycle for content and assessment development. **Core Tasks and Responsibilities:** + Provide assessment leadership and client consulting on successful assessment design and content development. + Drive long-term content development asset planning and execution. + Serve as the primary point of contact to the customer and cross-functional teams, vendors, and partners for project-level content development requirements. + Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of state assessment standards and blueprints and how different test designs influence assessment systems to internal teams and client. + Ensure item and test specifications adhere to the content and test development procedures needed to implement assessment solutions. + Participate in the development and delivery of client educator committee meetings. + As a point-of-contact to the customer and cross-functional teams for day-to-day execution, establish and foster positive and productive relationships with internal resources, vendors, project partners and external customers. + Troubleshoot item and test development technical issues and lead team in mitigating issues for the future. + Identify and track risks, including implementing the approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events to minimize the probability of realization. + Help resolve schedule delivery challenges. + Maintain the project management toolkit, customer requirements, and other documentation required to effectively manage program deliverables as assigned. + Identify opportunities for process and quality improvements which promote cost reduction and implement initiatives and monitor the effectiveness of changes made. + Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances (scope and costs), perform any required corrective actions, and communicate results to all stakeholders. + Assist in change control process including tracking, writing scope documents, and gathering estimates and pricing. Thoroughly evaluate any proposed scope change by involving the entire program delivery team; establish and maintain documentation to control scope. + Provide outstanding customer service. Be responsive and timely in responding to questions, concerns, and requests. + Support the Program Manager with project and program level new business initiatives including managing and writing statements of work and change requests as needed. + Support Program Manager with labor and NSDC forecasting, financial reviews, and documentation necessary to ensure that contract is maintained within budget and margin expectations. **Qualifications/Experience:** + A minimum of three years in educational testing and assessment industry experience required. + A minimum of three years of professional experience managing cross-functional teams required. Must understand team dynamics and foster a positive team environment. + A minimum of three years of professional experience in a client facing role preferred. + Classroom teaching experience is highly valued. + Knowledgeable of education principles, pedagogy and trends, and their connections to assessment. + PMP certification preferred or ability to demonstrate an understanding and application of Project Management Institute (PMI) principles. + Effective verbal/written communication skills, strong listening, negotiation and facilitation skills and the ability to develop and deliver presentations. + Flexibility in the workplace. + Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Project, Visio, and PowerPoint. + Expert proficiency of project management applications including the use of Smartsheet (to maintain program management plan) and SharePoint (to centralize documentation). + Ability to travel throughout the year. **What to expect from Pearson** Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows: The minimum full-time salary range is between $75,000 - $90,000.
