Your Opportunity: Taylor Corporation is looking for a Senior Project Scientist/Chemist to join the team in Dayton, Ohio! 

 

Your Responsibilities: 

Support the production team by improving quality and processes through innovative solutions and continuous improvement initiatives 

Work in a lab environment to develop new inks, coatings, and formulations for the paper, label, and packaging industry, ensuring they meet industry standards and customer requirements 

Update and maintain SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and production cost files, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accurate cost tracking 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, and quality assurance to drive product development and process optimization 

Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate the performance and stability of new formulations, documenting results and making recommendations for improvements 

Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting issues related to formulations and processes 

Stay current with industry trends and advancements in chemistry, inks, coatings, and adhesives to bring innovative ideas to the team 

 

You Must Have: 

Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Chemistry or a related field. A PhD in Chemistry is highly preferred 

3-5 years of experience in the printing, packaging, and/or labels industry, with a strong understanding of industry-specific challenges and requirements 

Knowledge of chemistry, inks, coatings, and adhesive formulations, including hands-on experience with formulation development and testing 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions 

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and present findings 

Proficiency in using lab equipment and software for data analysis and documentation 

 

We Would Also Prefer: 

Master's Degree or PhD in Chemistry or a related field, demonstrating advanced knowledge and expertise 

Familiarity with UV materials, thermal chemistry, and fluorescing security inks, bringing specialized knowledge to the team 

Experience with patents, showcasing innovation and expertise in the field 

Someone who can work in a team environment, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture 

Experience with project management, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines 

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards in the packaging and label industry 

Creative thinking and innovation, with a passion for developing new products and improving existing ones
