Senior Purchasing Buyer
**Job Purpose:** Responsible for management of suppliers and efficient, cost-effective sourcing and purchasing of materials, products and services necessary for operation of The Company as well as providing teamwork and expertise to Purchasing Buyers and others in support of overall success. **Qualifications:** + **Education and Experience:** A bachelor’s degree in business or related field, and five to seven years OEM or Tier 1 experience in purchasing within the automotive or capital goods industries required. Specific expertise in sourcing and procurement of any or all of the following is preferred: metal stampings, castings, fasteners, forgings and aluminum extrusions. Additional years of experience may be substituted for formal college degree. + **Knowledge** **:** Knowledge of purchasing practices, MRP, Bills of Material and routings, Logistics, knowledge of Quality Process Control and TS16949 requirements required as well as demonstrated expertise in purchasing disciplines, negotiation and supplier management. + **Skills & Abilities** : Proficient in use of MS Office applications, expertise in use of PLEX/MRP, effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to productively manage multiple tasks, logical thought process and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members in all areas of the business and supply chain. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:** 1. Manages the supplier network for assigned commodities and services. Communicates demand requirements and order priority to each supplier. Evaluates the Company Customer demand; takes steps to effectively ensure constant optimal supply balance and notifies management timely of potential and existing issues. 2. Collaborates with Engineering to negotiate machinery purchases and integration services for new production lines as assigned. 3. Proactively develops new source options within category assignments and manages, improves existing supplier performance by direct involvement, virtual and on-site meetings including travel as needed. 4. Obtains competitive detailed quotes for new and existing requirements; negotiates pricing/terms in compliance with purchasing objectives and policy. Works in collaboration with Purchasing Manager, Purchasing Director, Engineering, Quality Personnel and others in this activity 5. Prepares and places purchase orders for material based on The Company Customer demand and in support of other requirements. 6. Follow up and expedite of material supply as necessary to ensure continuous availability for uninterrupted production. 7. Responsible for timely planning and scheduling of receipts. Maintain inventory at economic levels. Places orders based on MRP system and other relevant indicators. 8. Review requests for equipment, packaging, maintenance, repair & operating supplies to assure that requisitions conform to purchasing strategy and administrative policies. 9. Responsible for component and supplies inventories. Supports corporate goals for inventory turns. [Days on Hand; DOH] 10. Interact with other departments to keep current on manufacturing activities and material requirements. Assist with all quality concerns or engineering changes that affect suppliers. 11. Additional duties as assigned. **Training Requirements:** **New Hire Orientation, PLEX, Supplier Onboarding, RFQ Process, Supplier Return Process, The Company Quality Management.** **Level of Authority:** + Authorize the purchase of materials, supplies and outside services within commodity assignments. + Approve invoices for payment as appropriate. **Physical Demands:** Requires long periods (in excess of 4-hours) of sitting computer and telephone use. Frequently required to lift items less than 10 lbs. in weight, and face to face conversations with employees and vendors.
