Your mission, roles and responsibilitiesThe Plant Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing process control programs that will assure production of finished goods that meet or exceed customer-specified requirements. He/she leads continuous improvements by utilizing the appropriate quality tools and provides data analysis. He/she is responsible for Supplier Quality Performance along with supporting their assigned production areas.
The main missions of the role are to:
• Manage the SQA(s) and Supplier Quality Performance Tracking and improvement activities; SQA(s) report to the Senior Quality Manager
• Manage the Quality Technician(s) daily assignments and on time delivery of tasks, Quality Technicians report to the Senior Quality Engineer and Quality Engineer
• Ensure visits to the Top 5 worst performing suppliers annually
• Support for coverage when the Quality Manager is off site
• Approve and implement internal work instructions on the production lines and thus ensure that all necessary inspections are included, the necessary time is allocated in the standardized work sheets and that the related measuring equipment is available and meets requirements (e.g. R&R study, etc)
• Ensure the respect of the control plan and archive required quality records in accordance with the control plan (1st part ok, …)
• Define and update the inspection instructions according to the control plan (e.g. final inspection instructions, ok 1st part instruction)
• Organize and perform gauge R&R studies. Perform measurements and data collection on engineering samples, record SPC data and coordinate line trail data collection.
• Assess new and existing manufacturing methods, including tooling, fixtures, layouts and equipment for potential quality/cost improvements. Supervisor pre-production and pre-launch activities.
• Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in conjunction with advanced quality-planning activities. Compile the contents and assure compliance to customer requirements for all initial production part submissions.
• Facilitate the establishment and implementation of quality specifications, testing procedures and standards for raw materials, processes and finished goods.
• Develop and recommend inspection, sampling techniques and quality control plans, develop process control procedure to ensure production of finished product meet quality specification and standard.
• Provide leadership in APQP and PPAP processes to determine testing, sampling techniques and gauging methods needed to produce new products.
• Key member of the program launch team through all phases to support the Program manager and Corporate launch team.
• Active participation in the UAP QRCI and sustain the rigorous application of the method.
• Conduct investigations to determine causes of defects and make recommendations for corrective actions. Provide feedback to manufacturing, engineering and quality based on the analysis of returned goods and internal non-conformances
• Update daily the quality indicators for the UAP and ensure that the quality indicators are well tracked by the GAP Leader for the lines
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have/be:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of three (3) years automotive experience
• Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing experience
• Strong analytical and proven team-oriented problem solving-skills required.
• Strong customer satisfaction orientation
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage
• In-depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques
• In-depth knowledge of Metrology
• English speaking
