The DuPont Bayport plant is seeking a highly motivated Senior Quality Engineer (QE) to join the Quality Organization. The Bayport site, located in Pasadena, Texas, is a key Kapton® films manufacturing facility for DuPont’s Interconnect Solutions (ICS) Business.  ICS is a global manufacturer of a broad array of high performance films and laminate materials used in the electronics industry.  Our products are used extensively in aircraft, automotive, high-speed trains, personal electronics, and military applications.  The Bayport site has a flexible, high performance work environment.

The Senior Quality Engineer provides quality guidance/direction and coordinates all quality functions related to the manufacturing of Kapton® film. Provides technical support to Operations with respect to improving the quality of Kapton® film, quality systems, and product-related services. Supports and leads the quality improvement initiatives as part of the continuous improvement philosophy, with focus on prevention and mistake-proofing. Works with area teams using quality tools and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to implement solutions and be a team player with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to improve product quality. This position will be exposed to multiple manufacturing processes and provide day-to- day support as plant operations require.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate and communicate customer quality requirements into plans and assess current capability to meet requirements.

• Lead and/or supports investigations of internal and external quality issues in a timely manner and implement effective corrective and preventive actions using root cause tools (5Why, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Fishbone, etc.)

• Quality source for release of material on “Hold For Disposition” (typical MRB Function)

• Conduct internal system, process, and product audits and monitors corrective action plans.

• Initiate, monitor and execute quality improvement programs/projects to align with and achieve Quality Objectives, and Critical Operating Tasks, to improve customer satisfaction.

• Develop, maintain, and provide quality metrics as required to facilitate a positive proactive change in quality performance.

• Analyze internal and external failure data and ongoing quality performance for continuous improvement (CI) opportunities and drive CI effort.

Actively participate in various daily/weekly/monthly meetings to communicate quality performance.

• Work with Supplier Quality and Purchasing to facilitate corrective/preventive actions with Suppliers in a timely manner.

• Participate/Lead Supplier Audits as directed.

• Coordinates/Conducts necessary training with Operations on quality standards, product knowledge, and problem solving (RCFA).

• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with a range of personnel

• Interface with Customers and Suppliers on quality and technical issues

• Ability to teach and train

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Bachelor's Degree preferably STEM program

• Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), and Minitab

• ASQ-CQE certification

• Minimum 3 years in a Quality Engineer role

• Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification
