Job Description Summary:
A Quality Engineer (SMTS) ensure that products meet the highest quality standards. Responsible for investigating and resolving issues. Reviews SOW (Statements of Work), RFP (Request for Proposals), design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and manuals, to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.This individual will be working at the Navy Guidance Test Facility on the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The assignment will be in direct support of the Navy’s Trident Guidance System and Fire Control System test programs, working directly with the Draper Site Manager.
Primary tasking will be to ensure that the Cape Canaveral staff and all operations being conducted at the site are adhering to the Navy and Draper Quality Assurance (QA) requirements. This individual will have ownership of the site’s QA program, will be responsible for implementing best practices for a variety of test operations, certifying staff for individual qualifications for conducting test related functions, and maintaining records. This individual will coordinate locally with Naval Ordinance Test Unit staff and Draper Cambridge QA staff. The individual will possess effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
The individual will be responsible for the following:
• Ownership and implementation of all aspects of Cape Campus QA Program.
• Coordination with Site Manager for tracking and implementation of the QA Program.
• Work closely with staff to monitor processes and mentor staff to resolve anomalies.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide technical assistance and support to customers, suppliers, and employees in resolving issues.
•Leads and identifies improvements of manufacturing, process, and product efficiency to reduce nonconforming products.
• Ensures products meet the organizations and customers quality and product integrity requirements.
• Provides analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
• Leads a cross function team in the determination of root cause of failures. Identifies when failure analysis is necessary, along with providing recommendations of the corrective measures.
• Analyzes data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects.
• Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction
• Actively mentor less experienced engineers
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities
• Ability to work on cross functional teams
• Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles
• Familiarity with Quality Standards ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100.
• Expert knowledge and skills in process integration.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education
Requires a bachelor of Science degree an Engineering discipline.
Experience
Requires 5-7 years experience in quality engineering or other engineering role.
Additional Job Description:
Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Secret Clearance is required.
