More about your role 

Senior Quantity Surveyors at Places for People are responsible for understanding, quantifying, budgeting, cash flowing and managing the costs of infrastructure delivery and building work involved in a construction project including the administering and procuring of a construction contract and consultant appointments. Projects across the portfolio include a proposed 8,500 home development on PfP's landholding at Gilston in East Hertfordshire, large scale complex multi-tenure and mixed-use developments, affordable development programme, joint venture schemes, projects for specialist subsidiaries and commercial development opportunities. This role will require  

Detailed knowledge and understanding of main contract / subcontract terms and conditions including JCT/ICC/NEC and experience working on major infrastructure projects as part of multi-disciplinary team will be essential. 

 Being a Senior Quantity Surveyor requires a good working knowledge of the construction industry and a strong interest in keeping up with new developments. There can be some overlap, but the day-to-day roles and responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor in Places Developments will vary according to the stage of the project you're working on, meaning this is be a fast-paced and varied role.

More about you 

You will require an appropriate qualification in the built environment, ideally RICS or studying towards. You will however need a good understanding of construction and development, focused on pre-construction. You will also require commercial and financial acumen with the ability to competently manage and track expenditures, financial goals and budgets. Lead with all aspects of the design, build, procurement & procedures are worked to and ensure implementation of commercial aspects on a single larger project or perhaps across multiple projects  

 

This role is highly collaborative, and you will need the ability to work as part of a close-knit management team and manage numerous activities / projects simultaneously – both short and long term. You will work with a few internal and external stakeholders and will need to be able to evidence at interview where you have built long-term relationships using your strong influencing and negotiation skills.
