Laminar Inc., recently acquired by Johnson Johnson is hiring for a Senior RD Engineer. This role will be located in Santa Rosa, CA.


Laminar is a clinical stage medical device company advancing transseptal left atrial appendage (LAA) closure. The LAA is a small pouch in the left atrium of the heart that is amajor contributor to thromboembolic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. It has developmental, ultra-structural, and physiological characteristics distinct from the left atrium proper.Growing incidence of atrial fibrillation and medical device developments have rapidly expanded the market.

Job Profile:

In this role, the Senior RD Engineer will be responsible for the design and design and development of a left atrial appendage (LAA) closure system. The engineer will use their technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to design, test, transfer to manufacturing, and support the clinical use of the product. The engineer may also interact with suppliers at various levels to support the design and manufacturing of the product.


Responsibilities:

Technical Design Development:

· Apply mechanical and biomedical engineering principles to product design and development

· Proactively identify issues and resolve them in a timely manner

· Create and perform experiments to evaluate the design performance

· Write design documents, establish tolerances, and define specifications

· Identify, evaluate and manage external suppliers

· Develop and execute test protocols and write up results

· Understand manufacturing requirements and write work instructions

· Perform bench testing, cadaver studies, animal studies, and potentially support clinical studies

· Conduct failure analysis and provide recommended design improvements

· Cross-functionally collaborate with other functions: Quality, Operations Regulatory, and Clinical

· Train, coach, and guide lower-level employees

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $88,000- $141,450.
