About the opportunity\:

We are currently looking for a highly skilled Senior Radiological Safety Assessor to join the team in Birchwood, Warrington to support the development and delivery of the nuclear safety case for the SNM FS project.

Key Responsibilities 

Development and delivery of the SNM FS nuclear safety case and associated documentation on behalf of our clients by applying the principles of nuclear safety to the preparation and production of the safety case to Ensure safety documentation meets the client’s requirements.

Development and delivery of the SNM FS nuclear safety case and associated documentation on behalf of our clients by applying the principles of nuclear safety to the preparation and production of the safety case to Ensure safety documentation meets the client’s requirements.

Here's What You'll Need\:

A degree in engineering or suitable scientific subject e.g. physics, chemistry etc with experience of working in a safety and safety case environment within either the nuclear industry, or a similar highly regulated industry. Experience of safety case development throughout project life cycle phases from early conception through to facility handover.  Including but not limited to the following documentation\: Preliminary Safety Reports (PSR), Pre-Construction Safety Reports (PCSR), Pre-Inactive Commissioning Safety Reports (PICSR), Pre-Active Commissioning Safety Reports (PACSR), Hazard Analysis (HAZAN) Reports, Design Safety Memorandums (DSM) and  Operational Safety Memorandums (OSM) to support Plant Modification Proposals (PMP). Knowledge and experience in deterministic and probabilistic safety case assessment for nuclear projects and/or operational nuclear facilities experience with HAZID, HAZOP & ALARP. Experience of Normal Safety Functional Requirement (SFR) derivation and categorisation, Fault & Hazard SFR derivation and categorisation, Structure, System and Component (SSC) derivation and classification, Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) and safety case risk modelling. Understanding of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) Safety Assessment Principles (SAPS) and their application to new nuclear build nuclear projects. Safety Case authoring and delivery experience. Experience of interfacing with internal and external regulators e.g. Sellafield Capability, INSA, ONR etc. Previous experience of material transfer or storage safety cases. Ability to collect and understand LFE from nuclear projects. Demonstrable communication skills and the ability to write clearly and present complex arguments in a well-structured manner, suitable for a varied audience.
