In the role of Senior Bridge Engineer, we'll count on you to:Serve in a lead technical role on rail bridge design projectsPerform complex structural planning, analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projectsWork on a variety of projects including Class I railroads, shortlines, industrial and transit clientsPerform bridge engineering/design calculations, developing structural details, inspecting bridges and performing loadrating calculations Assist with geometric layout, writing specifications and develop cost estimates Some CAD plan production may also be required. Assignments may also include structural services related to inspections or construction.Serve as a technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects, and supervise more junior engineers in the performance of engineering tasksPerform other duties as neededProject management responsibilities may include managing project scope, budget and schedule as well as development of design criteria, project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls. Position may require periodic client visits, site
visits, field assessments, and construction inspection, as needed. Other duties may include assisting to develop proposals for project pursuits. The individual will work closely with HDR Rail Section Manager and project team.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil EngineeringMaster's degree in Structural EngineeringStrong interest in railroad bridge designProven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, Mathcad, MicroStation, AutoCAD or other CAD softwareExperience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software (Bentley LEAP Bridge Enterprise, CSI Bridge, LARSA)Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams Railroad project experience is preferredExperience working with AREMA’s Manual for Railway Engineering and other railroad design specifications is a plusPreference given to local candidatesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degreeA minimum of 10 years bridge design experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license.Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projectsProficiency with Microsoft Office software, GEOPAK, AutoCAD and MicroStationExperience using structural analysis programs and bridge design softwareDemonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teamsProject management skills desirableStrong communication skills and willing to work in a team environmentMust be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projectsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
