Job Summary

Working alongside other Senior RDs, you will be assisting in planning, organizing, and implementing systems to meet facility’s and Avamere standards. Responsible for monitoring, within the assigned area, aspects of the dietary department including regulatory compliance, sanitation and infection control, meal preparation and service, purchasing systems and resident’s clinical nutrition care. To provide regular support, guidance, and resources to dietitians, and assist facilities to screen, interview and train dietitian candidates. 

Planning, Organizing, Evaluating Regulatory Compliance

Monitor and work with facilities within the assigned area for review of overall food and nutrition service functions. Provide regular support, guidance and resources to dietitians and dietary manager within assigned area. Participate in select Quality Management/QA Reviews including mock surveys as reasonably able. Work with the dietitian, dietary manager, and facility team on identified dietary/nutrition issues and implementation of solutions. Assist in developing and implementing efficient procedures and systems. Assist in adherence to state and federal regulations and facility policies and programs. Complete special projects as assigned.

Food Service and Nutritional Management

Assist VP of Dietary Services with development and implementation of policies and procedures. Assist VP of Dietary Services in corporate menu creation and implementation in accordance with current industry standards of practice and policies and procedures. Work with the facility dietary managers on menus, as needed. Assist VP of Dietary Services with food service department budget control efforts for facilities within the assigned area. Alongside Senior CDM, provide regular guidance and assist facilities within the assigned area.

Education

Screen, interview, organize and/or provide training and onboarding of new dietitians in assigned area. Review and check competence of dietitians, as indicated, and provide additional training and resources, as identified. Assist Senior CDM with training of new dietary managers within the assigned area. Coordinate with Senior CDM to plan/lead manager meetings and/or conference calls monthly. May serve as preceptor for employees taking a dietary manager certification course.

Administrative Duties

Communicate status of facilities within the assigned area to the VP of Dietary Services. Monitor and organize facility dietitian coverage. Report problems unable to be resolved independently to the VP of Dietary Services. Assist with annual dietitian performance reviews. Assist with review and development of resources for dietitians and dietary managers. Report known or suspected incidents of fraud, waste and or abuse to the VP of Dietary Services. Agree not to disclose assigned user ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the VP of Dietary Services.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Credentials

Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field and completion of a dietetic internship approved by the Accreditation Council of Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Dietitian license and/or certification to be obtained within 60 days from date of hire, dependent on applicant location.

Experience

Three (3) years of healthcare experience in clinical dietetics. Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred.
