Job Overview
Macy’s Senior Reliability Maintenance Technicians use a combination of mechanical, electrical, computer, and software skills to work with smart technologies, such as robots, automated conveyor systems and computer-integrated distribution equipment. They serve as the SME and trainer for all equipment inside of the fulfillment center performing predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on time to provide high levels of equipment availability.
Essential Functions
Work in a hands-on manner and demonstrate SME (Subject Matter Expert) levels of knowledge on Automation and other MHE (Material Handling Equipment) in the building. Coach and mentor the technicians on shift. Support the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor and lead the shift in their absence. Provide high levels of equipment availability to our internal customers by means of troubleshooting and prioritizing repairs. Install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer, control systems and components in a complex fulfillment/distribution center. React quickly to breakdowns, communicate clearly with affected parties and work efficiently to fix the issue. Support continuous improvement by learning from breakdowns and sending feedback and suggestions for improvements through the line manager. Combine electronic, mechanical, computer and control skills to allow for identification of equipment malfunctions. Perform maintenance/repairs and return equipment to service. Install, repair, adjust, and test equipment and components to ensure that systems function properly. Role model safety best practices and monitor those around them to ensure they follow the example they set. Report possible safety concerns to the Manager or Supervisor. Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair. Performs preventative maintenance on material handling equipment, including daily systems inspections of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components. Reports any problems to the Manager or Supervisor. Utilize the computerized maintenance management system. Monitors, reports, and documents the usage and replacement of equipment and parts. Performs preventative maintenance on facility; carpentry, plumbing, and electrical duties. Knowledge of operation and safe storage practices of ARC and MIG welding equipment to include OXY/ACETYLENE, and PLASMA welding and cutting. May be required to install or recharge batteries for any battery-powered material handling equipment. Performs electrical tasks associated with but not limited to replacing motors, fuses, and switches.
Competencies
Advanced degree in Mechatronics Technology or at least 4 years of industry level experience. Multi skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines with relevant experience in automation, complex MHE environments, and/or robotic operation and maintenance. Solid foundational knowledge of PLC based controls systems. Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to plan proactive maintenance and record reactive tasks. Ability to read and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to read, understand, and create mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics. Strong written and verbal communication to various departments and management. Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team. Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload. Proven ability to mentor and influence others on the team. PC competency and ability to use handheld devices. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
Physical Requirements
Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking around warehouse. May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, depth perception and color vision. Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment. Frequently lift/move up to 50lbs.
