Job Summary
As a member of the Ob/Gyn Epidemiology Center, the senior research assistant will be responsible for multiple projects and serve as the lead assistant to other research assistants and staff on all lab related projects. The senior research assistant will work closely with the Project Manager and PI in the development and execution of all aspects of several studies, including patient recruitment and follow-up, data collection, specimen processing, lab management and organization, as well as the opportunity to contribute to publications.
Qualifications
As a member of the Ob/Gyn Epidemiology Center, the senior research assistant will be responsible for multiple projects and serve as the lead assistant to other research assistants and staff on all lab related projects. The senior research assistant will work closely with the Project Manager and PI in the development and execution of all aspects of several studies, including patient recruitment and follow-up, data collection, specimen processing, lab management and organization, as well as the opportunity to contribute to publications.
Two ongoing studies will be the focus for this Senior RA. The first is a longitudinal case control study of endometriosis (Boston Center for Endometriosis/Women’s Health Study: From Adolescence to Adulthood), with ongoing yearly contact of previously enrolled subjects. This study is a cross-institutional project between Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. A second MGB gynecology study, which is a joint project between Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Mass General Hospital, is in the recruitment phase.
The Senior RA will help manage the team, assist with communications, manuscript preparation, presentations, and data archiving.

Principal Responsibilities
Responsible for aspects of direction and administration of multiple ongoing and planned research projectsWeekly review through EPIC of surgical schedules for BWH Gynecology/Oncology providers in order to identify and enroll eligible subjects.Schedule research visitsRecruit participants/administer the informed consent documentData entry/management/cleaning, designing/editing of REDCap questionnaires, medical record abstraction/codingAct as the lead laboratory research assistant for the Boston Center for Endometriosis Biorepository, including coordinating and managing various laboratory projects requiring the accurate creation of sample aliquots for transport to outside collaboratorsProcess blood, urine, saliva, for storage in the biorepositoryCollaborate on literature reviewsManage confidential data and maintain multiple databases. Attention to detail paramountConducts research visits with enrolled subjectsResponsible for all Biorepository planning and the scheduling of laboratory staffEnsure ongoing data integrity for the projects by overseeing data collection and recordingProvide investigators with current references. Independently researches the literature and follows up on specific requests from research staffPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications
Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a research environment, or equivalent experience.Previous work in epidemiology preferred.Experience working with Excel and ACCESS required. Experience with Redcap, PowerPoint and SAS experience preferred. Bachelor's degree requiredPrevious supervisory experience preferred.Skills, Abilities, Competencies Required
