Senior Research Associate (Pathology Research - Galveston) **Galveston, Texas, United States** Research Academic & Clinical UTMB Health Requisition # 2405920 **Minimum Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent and 7 years related experience or Master's degree in basic science or equivalent and 5 years related experience required. **Job Description:** Senior Research Associate oversees the daily activities and work assignments of the research staff. **Job Duties:** + Collaborative work between two laboratories, each focusing on alphavirus and bunyavirus research, respectively. + Validation of viral rescue experiments, including full-length genomic RNA sequencing of mutant viruses to confirm modifications.the performance of serologic assays (e.g. PRNT, ELISA), as well as in the genetic identification and characterization of all virus isolates obtained during the course of the project, bioassays such as focus forming assays (FFA) and the maintenance of cell cultures for experiments planned as well as sequencing of the identified virus isolates the analysis of the generated data. + Proficient expertise in communicating the generated data (e.g. progress reports), and writing **SKILLS:**  Animal Science/Care Surgery  Biological Assays  Quantitative Analysis  Qualitative Analysis  Data Analysis  Data Collection  Equipment Calibration  Laboratory Equipment maintenance  Technical Writing Experience  Standard office equipment WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments.
