Job SummaryWe are looking for a motivated and self-driven Design engineer with relevant experience in the area of Design, Definition, and Configuration Change management.
As a senior design engineer, you will draw on your specialist knowledge to conceptualize products and develop designs in the concept development phase of the technology programs in both metallic and composite parts. You will lead CAD definition, design and related activities for Gas turbine engine whole engine layout, modules assemblies and components under different engine architectures. You will work within a team of engineers and domain leads to plan, execute and deliver milestones in the sprint system. You will be expected to provide technical guidance and mentoring to CAD engineers and drive continuous improvements in way of working.
Prepare Design data according to GKN Aerospace Sweden (GAS) standards, Operational Management System (OMS), and technical product requirements
Create design package including 2D layouts, engine assemblies interface documents, 3D models, product definition, requirement justification, which are compliant to all design requirements and objectives.
Create design packages including 3D definitions which allow for parametric modelling and optimisation of design concepts
Perform design validation through tolerance stack-up
Understand changes from Change orders(CO) and perform changes on models, drawings, manuals, and other applicable design data
Process and verify documentation such as concessions and non-conformances, and provide technical support by implementing solutions to address non-conforming products, designs, and compliance documentation.
Store, maintain and release appropriate project deliverables, documents, and reports in Teamcenter, SAP
Support and participate in technical discussions, including creation and preparation of technical data and present solutions
Mentor and development of engineers within assigned programmes.
Support with the creation and delivery of training material and initiatives relevant to project
Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and guide other engineers within the project as required.
Identify improvements and create and/or check the work instructions, procedures, technical manuals, and guidelines.
General:
Must possess a level of technical expertise especially in the Aerospace industry and in the functional area the project/programme is responsible for Design, in order to successfully support the tasks.
Must possess a high level of technical problem solving skills
Proven experience of handling concept designs in metallic and composites
Essential:
Holds Bachelors / Masters in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience gained within an engineering discipline, ideally within an aerospace environment and in multi-disciplinary engineering project teams (Design/Analysis, Testing & Manufacturing).
Expert Proficiency in creating 3D models, 2D Definition in Siemens TeamCenter and NX
Expert Proficiency in creating 3D Models , 2D product drawings independently
Expert Proficiency in creating model and definition for Casted/Forged & Machined products
Expert Knowledge and Application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
Expert Knowledge in stack-up analysis
Knowledge of modelling composite structures preferably in NX
Knowledge and exposure to component change management processes
Experience in Model Based Definition (MBD/ PMI) methods
Experience in definition and design of jet engine components, detailed model preparations
Strong understanding of gas turbine engine layouts and familiarity with jet engine components and engine assemblies
Ability to describe and present technical information to a wide audience at equivalent levels within the engineering business.
Able to promote Lean Principles including leading Continuous Improvement ideas (“CI”)
Demonstrates good mentoring & technical knowledge transfer as part of day-to-day activities.
Demonstrates a commercial awareness to be able to analyse customer requirements.
Desirable:
Able to communicate with different functions of engineering team, for inputs to execute design activities
