Job Summary
Responsibilities
Works collaboratively with Data Science faculty, DSI staff, and research professionals to develop scientific content and research proposals for grant funding
Develops budgets for projects and work with PIs and Research Admin to ensure compliance with reporting requirements; utilizes information included in progress and final reports to create content highlighting research impact and translation of results
Manages day-to-day logistics of research initiatives and postdoctoral scholars program
Analyzes, evaluates, and overcomes program risks, and produces program reports for management and stakeholders
Works closely with DSI leadership, faculty and relevant UChicago partners to plan and develop deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new programs and grant proposals
Develops and manages strong relationships with faculty members and other stakeholders working in the sciences or adjacent areas
Manages hiring and oversight of student research staff, as needed.
Manages stakeholders’ communication, and works with DSI team and leadership to identify new partnership opportunities to elevate and expand existing work to reach a broader, or higher impact, audience
Works closely with the Executive Director and Senior Director of Research Programs & Strategy to identify, launch and sustain research initiatives and programs
Works with faculty and development staff to identify funding opportunities that support key elements of the DSI’s research and program goals, and supports the development of proposals that would enable expansion, growth or research initiative program improvement
Identifies opportunities for events, workshops and other in-person or virtual engagement; coordinates with the communication team and research initiative partners to execute events that promote the profile and research goals of the DSI.
Is responsible for tracking progress, conducting analysis, as well as preparing for and facilitating project meetings
Acts as a resource for a project team and provides analytical guidance. Interprets complex project issues and provides analytical guidance to a project team.

Bachelor’s degree.
Experience:
Previous stakeholder management skills.
Experience in a R1 research university or research related position.
Expertise and/or experience supporting grant applications, private or public sector.
Experience working with interdisciplinary research teams, federal and non-federal agencies and community stakeholders.
Preferred Competencies
Effective organizational and time management skills with a high degree of attention to details.
Experience with technology, data science and/or interdisciplinary research or team science.
Outstanding working knowledge of project management principles and performance evaluation processes.
Ability to work with and across a complex set of stakeholders, units, and organizations.
