Senior Research Scientist - Basic Science and Translational Research **Galveston, Texas, United States** Research Academic & Clinical UTMB Health Requisition # 2402635 **JOB DESCRIPTION:** To support the research initiatives of the University. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** The Sr. Research Scientist position will lead multiple NIH funded projects in reproductive biology and microphysiologic system (MPS; organ on a chip) laboratory in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position will focus on projects to reduce the risk of preterm birth, develop MPS platforms for preclinical drug trials, and test various drugs. The NIH-funded projects will conduct preclinical trials using MPS models of the reproductive system (placenta, fetal membrane, cervix, and uterus) developed and reported by the division. + Function as project leader and manage NIH-funded projects. + Participate in management meetings and provide progress reports to NIH. + Conduct preclinical trials using the reproductive MPS platform (organ on a chip) that are already developed. + Train postdoctoral and clinical fellows in various laboratory techniques. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** PhD degree and 3 - 5 years of related experience. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** PhD degree and 3+ years’ experience in cell and molecular biology experiments and expertise in developing, testing, and using organ-on-chip technology (MPS platform development and testing) platform for various experiments using cell and molecular biological approaches. **SALARY:** Commensurate with experience. **EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:** UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law.
