POSITION SUMMARY:

A Senior Residential Counselor Provides program management including supervision of staff in carrying out direct service activities pertinent to the goals of the program in a supportive supervised shelter.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs administrative functions including the completion of regular reports, logs and documentation in a timely manner as required by funding sources and the Agency.

Provides administrative supervision of program staff, including scheduling during call outs, scheduled vacation requests and managing timesheets. 

Regularly scheduled meetings with program staff to discuss plans, address areas of potential problems and program functioning.

Assures the continuing training and development of program staff by modeling and teaching appropriate support.

Provides a structured supportive homelike shelter environment and other direct service activity for the youth.

Follows the staff and resident schedule in a consistent manner to ensure acculturation of the youth.

Collaborate with the case management team, clinical team and medical team about minors care.

Initiate and complete the Intake process of minors into the shelter.

Create reports and provide follow up for all safety issues, incident reports, CLE in a timely manner.

Assure all documentation is up to date ie. medication logs, religious logs, crisis binder.

Ensure monthly fire drills are facilitated for each shift and documented. 

Delegate coverage when SRC is not available.

Ensures that program structure is consistent with stated goals and objectives and that a Nurtured Heart, Trauma informed program is followed. .

Reports to and serves on the treatment team with Therapists and other designated staff.

Co-leads groups with Therapists and counselors.

Assists residential counselors in providing life skills education.

Is responsible for coordinating recreation and physical education activities scheduled during their shift.

Ensures that daily living needs of youth are met through delegation of responsibilities to residential counseling staff.

Coordinates appointments with Medical consultants, ensures all over-the-counter and prescription supplies and medication is on hand and correctly administered.

Coordinates other appointments (i.e. court appearances) with Therapists and Periodic Transport staff.

Works closely with teachers and residential staff in carrying out and following through on education and jobs related goals.

Covers shifts for call outs if appropriate coverage cannot be found. Remain observant of the minors until relief is given. 

Ensures they are present in staff ratio during their lunch breaks with minors. Exempt staff qualify for 1 hour lunch within sight and sound of minors. 

Teamwork: Ability to collaborate and perform with staff  in a fast paced environment.

Displays professional demeanor in all interactions with children, adults, and families served, as well as colleagues, and/or community members.

Adheres to Center for Family services best practices and ongoing training compliance.

Coordinates with CFS Operations Department on facility improvement, ensuring that each site complies with CFS standards of excellence - ensures that systems are in place for required and enhanced cleanliness, safety and homelike environments.



REQUIREMENTS: 

Certified Social Worker (CSW), Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) or equivalent certification, or degree and or 5 years experience working in direct residential care. 

Two or more years of Supervisory Experience.

One year of Program administration experience. 

Valid drivers license for at least 3 years with excellent Driving skills and clean driving record.

If required to drive a personal vehicle for work purposes, the personal vehicle must be appropriately registered with the state and maintain automobile insurance. 

Must successfully submit to and complete medical, criminal, motor vehicle and other background screenings including drug screening. 

Bi-lingual fluency, Spanish preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft windows and Gmail.
