What You’ll Do: 

 

As a Senior Revenue Accountant supporting the Revenue Team, you will be responsible for applying technical accounting understanding to assess revenue recognition appropriateness and accuracy of various transactions falling under the scope of ASC606. This includes a strong understanding of ASC606 guidance, GAAP, and AICPA requirements, and the ability to apply that understanding to complex revenue transactions. This role will also be responsible for owning the preparation of required monthly accruals, manual journal entries, analyzing revenue flux analyses, and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations as a part of month-end close processes. The ideal candidate has excellent problem-solving and communication skills and enjoys working in a challenging and complex environment. In this role, you will: 

 

Apply accounting guidance, such as ASC606, to various transactions throughout the Lead to Cash process, showing an understanding of key drivers of revenue recognition including contract/order language, contract modifications, cancellations, and underlying product knowledge tied to revenue recognition timing 

Perform accurate and timely order entry activities – including review of underlying deal documentation (order forms, quotes, opportunities, etc.) 

Review contracts created in Intacct post integration from Salesforce for completeness and accuracy of data inputs 

Support and assist with requests from external auditors, including managing PBC requests and ensuring completeness and accuracy of all support provided 

Maintain internal control and Lead to Cash process documentation in accordance with SOX and requirements 

Assist with preparation of annual financial disclosures in accordance with ASC606 and other applicable guidance 

Process contract modifications/cancellations, including calculating impacts to revenue and deferred revenue, coordinating with the Billings team as needed for invoicing considerations 

Support inquiries received from external customers for which Revenue Team expertise is needed 

Coordinate with other departments and internal/external customers on various requests, including but not limited to FP&A, Legal, Controller’s Group, and External Auditors 

Assist with monthly close activities such as period over period revenue fluctuation analyses, balance sheet reconciliations and related roll-forwards, revenue accruals, and other required manual journal entries 

Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely order processing and completion of monthly close related activities  

Assist in sharing, updating, and creating knowledge resources  

Support a positive team culture based on Bonterra company values

Who You Are:  

You are an experienced Senior Revenue Accountant who loves being hands-on and digging into the details. You get excited about problem-solving and improving processes and procedures. You love numbers and understand the complexities of several types of revenue streams and pricing arrangements. You enjoy being part of a team that works together to support the success of the company.  

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a revenue accounting role, or combined experience with revenue operations, Order to Cash (OTC) processes, and accounting; or 3 years’ experience spent in public accounting testing/auditing revenue also accepted 

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP 

CPA license required 

A successful background in improving processes and procedures 

Salesforce, SAGE Intacct, and Zuora experience preferred 

Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel 

Strong technical understanding and ability to apply guidance as set forth within ASC606 to a broad range of SaaS Subscription and Professional Services type revenue transactions 

Ability to work well in a team-oriented and intensely deadline-driven environment 

Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to relate and communicate effectively across all levels of staff inside and outside the department 

Demonstrated ability to work independently, including proactively seeking solutions from internal and external resources 

Ability to prioritize projects, quickly determine the inputs and requirements needed, and analyze the processes to figure out how to simplify, automate and improve them for increased efficiency 

Excellent attention to detail 

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information while upholding a strong foundation of business ethics

Compensation

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 

 

Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and in addition to benefits this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity. 

 

US Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
