Job Duties Are you a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic team? Join us as a Senior Accountant and be a key player in our Finance team. You will assist with month-end close, account reconciliations and process improvements, while leading the charge in technical accounting considerations and financial reporting. This role also involves working on exciting projects like warranty programs, gift cards, customer rewards programs, and customer returns. You'll also play a crucial role in our ERP transition and Strategic Initiative Reporting. Technical Accounting Responsibilities: Perform research and outline proposals to address technical accounting issues, including effective implementation across business functions Work with external auditors to ensure timely review and closure of technical accounting matters Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure alignment with accounting standards and best practices ensuring robust internal controls are maintained and strengthened Financial Reporting Responsibilities: Prepare and enhance monthly internal financial reports and annual audited financial statements and related footnotes. Create quarterly financial statements for external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Provide variance analysis and insightful commentary for board decks ensuring clarity and understanding. Stay updated with the latest financial regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting Collaborate with the FP&A team to assist in the forecast and budgeting process, ensuring alignment with financial goals and objectives. Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance Month-End close Responsibilities: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual period close responsibilities for assigned accounts and functional departments ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Collaborate proactively with leaders to review results and investigate variances to budget or forecast. Prepare accruals, schedules, reports, and account reconciliations maintaining the highest standards of accuracy. Partner with internal business partners and third-party vendors to manage loyalty reward and dual credit card liabilities. Conduct comprehensive analysis of gift card and loyalty breakage and perform monthly warranty analysis for proper revenue recognition. Identify and implement process improvements driving efficiency to support finance, operational, and strategic initiatives. Serve as ERP implementation subject matter expert for ASC 606 configuration and ensure matching cost of goods sold per US GAAP. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. CPA with public accounting experience required. 5 years of relevant accounting experience with progressive responsibility. Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls, including research and application of standards. Retail experience (multi-unit/multi-state) preferred. Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative business partnerships with all levels of management. Precision in managing financial closes, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards like ASC 606 is crucial. Strong communicator with oral, written communication and presentation skills, with active listening skills being equally important. Demonstrated analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. Excellent project management and organizational skills to drive results and deliver multiple priorities while working independently in a proactive manner. Energy to manage tight deadlines, audits, and the demands of a high-performance finance environment. A curious nature to continuously learn and stay updated with the latest financial regulations and industry best practices. Flexibility to handle the dynamic aspects of ERP implementation and adjust to new processes and systems.
