Responsibilities The Senior Revenue Accountant is a key member of the Finance team and will assist with revenue accounting activities and tasks to process bookings and revenue recognition. This role will support all aspects of Finance activities, and will be the lead for accurately recording, reporting and analyzing revenue recognition. This includes but is not limited to warranty programs, gift cards, customer rewards’ programs and customer returns. The position requires a proactive approach to problem solving, and a commitment to achieve deadlines and produce accurate information. Furthermore, this position will be involved in our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) transition and Strategic Initiative Reporting. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and establish open and collaborative channels of communication. Monthly, quarterly, and annual period close responsibilities for assigned accounts and functional departments: Meet with leaders to review results and investigate and explain variances to budget or forecast, Prepare accruals, schedules, reports, and account reconciliations, and Provide variance analysis and commentary for board decks. Prepare functional department operating results in terms of cost, budgets, and operating policies. Investigate and explain variances to management. Proactively partner with internal business partners and third-party vendors to collect, analyze, and record loyalty reward and dual credit card liabilities. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for assigned functional departments. Build monthly reporting from third party vendor data to analyze gift card and loyalty breakage. Analyze past history redemptions for supporting breakage percentages. Complete monthly warranty analysis for proper revenue recognition. Prepare quarterly analysis of estimated customer returns. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls to support US GAAP. Research accounting codification to evaluate and provide guidance on Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606 revenue recognition. Maintain and update company ASC 606 policy. Prepare and analyze monthly Strategic Initiative reporting for project management office. Build and maintain high level knowledge across all business areas by staying current on initiatives, challenges, and opportunities across the business. Support annual audits and tax return preparation support. Identify, design, and implement process improvements to support finance, operational, and strategic initiatives. ERP implementation subject matter expert and point person for ASC 606 configuration and matching cost of goods sold per US GAAP (freight capitalization, etc.). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred. 5 or more years of relevant accounting experience with progressive responsibility. ASC 606, GAAP, and IFRS revenue recognition experience including research and application of standard. CPA with public accounting experience preferred. Retail experience (multi-unit/multi-state) preferred.
