Overview:\n

Semper Valens is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Router Engineer to support the AFINC III contract with the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26NOS). The Router team oversees an enterprise DoD environment supporting the USAF that requires a unique and dynamic skill set. \n

Responsibilities:\n\nServe as a Router Team Operator for the 26th NOS.\nOversee intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, boundary protection and vulnerability assessment operations to defend the Air Force Network (AFNet).\u202f\nInvestigate and rectify malfunctions in network hardware and other systems to ensure service continuity.\nMeticulously monitor and manage all WAN circuits, ensuring optimal performance.\nRespond promptly to remote assistance requests from colleagues and service partners, providing expert technical support.\nCreate and maintain comprehensive network support and implementation handover documentation for the Help-desk.\nManage assigned tasks and projects independently, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines.\nProvide backup support to other team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.\nUndertake any other assignments or duties as directed by management, demonstrating adaptability and versatility.\nTroubleshoot and resolve network issues across multiple devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, and management systems.\nUnderstand and implement disaster recovery procedures.\nExperience interpreting, implementing, and assessing DISA STIGs\nParticipate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.\nTroubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.\nGenerate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.\nDocument technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.\nParticipate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.\n\n

Qualifications\/Requirements:\n

Candidate should have 7+ years of\u202fprogressively responsible network engineering hands-on in:\n\nEnterprise network management, focusing primarily on Cisco devices.\nInstallation, configuration, and support of network switches, routers, and wireless Aps\nExperience with network topologies such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet,\u202fGbE\u202fVLAN, and SONET.\u202f\nExperience in implementing converged networks to include VoIP, VTC and QoS methods.\u202f\nProven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN implementation and management.\nProven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.\nStrong working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including Cisco products and solutions.\nStrong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Cisco IOS platforms.\nExcellent network hardware troubleshooting experience.\nAbility to understand the organization's goals and objectives and implement solutions to meet those goals and objectives.\nKnowledge of networking protocols and IP subnetting\nKnowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP)\nKnowledge and experience with Juniper platform\u202fare\u202fa plus.\nMust be able to push\/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs.\nMust be willing to travel up to 5% of the year, dependent on contract needs and requirements that may arise.\nExperience in directly managing teams of diverse technical personnel responsible for the daily operations.\n\n
