The Senior Atmospheric Scientist is responsible for providing crop consultants, retail employees, and executive leadership across the company with relevant, timely, and accurate weather information. You will work with our agronomists to combine your expertise in weather with agricultural practices and educate our staff and customers on proactive and preventative recommendations. Creating and maintaining excellent relationships across the organization will be critical as you work with the team to be our company’s trusted provider of weather information. 

 

What you will do: 
 

Join a team of atmospheric scientists dedicated to providing the employees of Nutrien Ag Solutions with trusted, agronomically relevant weather information. 

Provide daily content (in video, podcast and/or blog format) educating on upcoming weather events and how they will affect their agricultural practices. You will be the trusted advisor on immediate short-term weather and longer seasonal development as they plan for their season. 

Travel across the United States and Canada to present to non-experts in the company, educating on historical and forecasted weather for their region. 

Connect with our employees across North America and be a trusted advisor for their practices. 

Support our weather safety experts in forecasting imminent dangerous weather events and deploying safety bulletins across the company. 

Act as a representative of Nutrien Ag Solutions, speaking about our weather capabilities to media, and showcasing the work we are doing to support our people in the field.

What you will bring: 
 

​​Bachelor’s degree in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, climate science or related discipline. 

​5-10+ years’ experience forecasting across the US and Canada. 

​Including experience teaching and presenting to non-experts. 

A background in forcasting for agriculture is a plus.

Focasting experience in Brazil and Australia preferred but not required.

​Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time. 

​Including international travel. ​ 

​Map making software experience preferred. 

​Knowledge of microclimates in the West of the US (particularly California) preferred.
